Question Grand Ams & Winter

I am looking into buying a used Grand Am GT around the years of 2000 - 2004. How are these cars in the snow? I live in Pittsburgh and we can have some bad winters and I was just curious on that. Thank you.

nat bad......Judging from recent resale values of Grand Am's you should be able to pick one up real cheap.

FWD is a plus. They handle fine in the snow. My grand ams have been dropped, so they're not as good sometimes, but I still get around.

A friend of my parents said they had a Grand Am, but it wasn't good in the snow. They traded it in on a new Grand Am which was better in the snow. (Not sure when they did all of this. So I am not sure on the years of the cars) Now, I'm not sure on all the details on the car because I was not there to ask. Is there a certain year of Grand Ams where they got better in the snow? Thank you for the replies all.

Just make sure you have good tires. My car drives like a champ in the winter even with over 12" of snow on the ground. The only problem is it being lowered. Anything more than 3 - 4" on the ground and I turn into a snowplow.

I've owned an '89, '95, '00,'01 grand am. The '89 never saw snow and the '95 was just as good as the '00 and '01. If your friend's parents were driving around on the original tires, then chances are it won't handle as well as a new grand am with new tires.

Also, a conventional drop with a grand am is not a problem no matter where you live as long as you don't drive like a moron.

True. I should have phrased that better. I meant the lowering in only a problem when there's tonnes of snow on the ground. The snow gets packed in the front suspension pretty good. Other than that.... Dropped GA =

I never said it was a bad thing... haha. This site is notorious for harassing the new people. Especially the females.

We're still waiting on those pics ... ...

Edit: Just so I'm totally not off topic, I would look for an 01 GAGT with as low miles on it as possible.
