Anyone else find it striking that the most popular cars (in terms of sales) are at the top (bottom) of the list. Maybe because there are 1000x more F150s on the roads than Mini Coopers that there will be more deaths (even if the numbers are deaths per million cars you have to account that if there are 1000 times more F150s you are much more likely to be in an accident in/with an F150).
Of course the chart was compiled by some hippie whale lovers at UofM and Berkley. If you read one of the articles linked there you'll read some guy trying to pitch that smaller cars are "safer" because they are more nimble". Asshat....I didn't buy my Trailblazer because it is nimble....I don't expect it to be nimble....I expect it to be able to tow my two 1,000 lb SeaDoos and the 1,000 lb trailer up north on the weekends. Try doing that with a Jetta or a Mini Cooper. I am tired of the SUV haters. If you want government control of the types of cars we can buy go move to some socialist country where all you can buy is a LeCar. |

Damn....Jetta is the best subcompact. If only I had the deep wallet to buy one and didn't mind everything electronically breaking in it.

Ford is junk so.... really not a fair comparison.
I personally witnessed a late 90's Cavalier get rear ended by an early 90's Ford Ranger 4x4... the bumper was nearly completley off and the grille wwas dented in on the Ford.... the Cavalier (junk... but not as bad as Ford) I swear only had the most minor hardly noticable damage to it. |

i was speaking more along the lines of BMW and Mercedes myself.
As for electronics on those i believe they blow away any american car including hondas and grand am's. I think they have their electronics down much better than you'd like to think, perhaps the reason why the american auto makers have been adding features on their cars that europen cars have had for ages. As for honda civics not having electrical problems, what do they really have to go wrong. The most tricked thing on that car is what electric windows?

Funny, I always saw a company that makes and designs all their cars in Japan, runs the company from Japan, and makes many versions of their cars in Japan as being Japanese. Could just be me though. And as intelligent as you sound with that last remark ( ) I feel sorry to inform you that BMW ane Mercedes aren't as problem-free as you'd think either. In fact, BMW specifically has garnered a reputation of poor reliability, with more problems per 100 than almost any other automaker, including ALL of GM and ALL of Ford, even w/ their ****ty cheap divisions included. Consider only specific brand names like Buick and Cadillac and you'll find them among the top 5 or so automakers in the world as far as problem-free cars go now, with Honda, Toyota, and Lexus also in the top.Go back and play with your model M3 and keep dreaming, it'll be allright. At least I hope you just have a model M3 since the actual M3 has experiences hundreds of engines that have blown up since BMW's latest edition. |

In fact i dont believe a word you said. In fact my mom has owned 4 BMW's before and just recently bought a new Mercedes and had never once had a problem with any of the BMW's. So i guess your statement of saying im poor and telling me to play with my model M3 is null considering ive drove more BMW's in my short 22 years of life than you will ever drive. So i guess if you want to play that game- go play with your 97 hyuandi *ROLLS EYES*
Besides your talking from your A$s anyways, im going to assume you've never owned a newer BMW and arent speaking from experience anyways so another null statement coming from you.

Since you "don't believe a word I said," here's some documentation for you. M3 online documents engine failures (who knows how many undocumented): http://members.roadfly.com/jason/m3engines.htm In any case, it was not BMW that fared so badly it was Porsche and VW. I had read that BMW was dragging the Germans down but I guess that report was wrong, either that or they specifically said the 7 series was bringing BMW down, because I do recall hearing something abou the 7 series in the original report. http://motortrend.com/features/news/112_news56/ In any case, German cars scored the most problems per 100 which was my original point. They are more problematic than American, Korean, and Japanese brands overall. |
