Arrow Dodge Charger news **Official photos**

Quote:
Dodge confirms Charger will be name for upcoming '05 sedan

Dodge will bring back the Charger name on a full-sized rear-wheel-drive sedan in 2005, a company insider has confirmed.

Its exterior will draw on the heritage of the late 1960s Charger muscle car but will not be "retro," says the source, who asked not to be named.

Also, another Chrysler source confirmed that a seven-seat SUV, based on the Jeep Grand Cherokee, will be called the Commander. It is due in 2005.

Analyst Michael Bruynesteyn at Prudential Equity Group LLC, described the Chrysler group's new products as "appealing" in a report to investors. Financial analysts were briefed on Chrysler's upcoming products in a meeting last week.

The Charger will be a 2006 model and will be based on the Dodge Magnum. The Magnum will be the subject of a national promotion at Dodge dealerships June 17. About 2,000 Dodge dealers will host "Premiere Night" events to showcase the wagon.

Dodge's NASCAR drivers will be available via satellite to talk with shoppers.

I think someone is about to make fun of GM's lame attempt to bring back a musclecar.... The 300C with an automatic already matches/near matches the performance of the 6-speed "GTO"... I'm thinking we are about to see a REAL musclecar return!!

It looks beastly!!

Hmmm....

I wonder if this really is what it will look like? If so, not bad at all! Looks better than the old one. Still pays proper tribute to the original... look at the back window AND th top of the hood!!

I hope I have the coin for this car when it comes out if it looks anything like this!!!

“Sedan” does not necessarily mean 4 doors.

from the dictinoary:
se·dan ( P ) Pronunciation Key (s-dn)
n.
1. A closed automobile having two or four doors and a front and rear seat.
2. A portable enclosed chair for one person, having poles in the front and rear and carried by two other people. Also called sedan chair.

Example: The Buick Regal GNX held the title for the longest time as the worlds fastest..."sedan" and it was only 2 doors.

I like the 2 door sedan better.

yeah, take those concepts... add 2 doors... water down the sweet looks so that a 40-year-old mom would like them, add huge ugly bumpers, add a 3" wheel gap, add crappy 16" stock rims and finally replace the cool-looking quad exhaust tips with a single turn-down tip that would be hidden by said ugly rear bumper.

Holy shyt, that looks amazing. I would def. buy that if it came out like that. They should offer that 2 door version along with the 4 door. I love the rear profile and the way it sits. Looks mean.

That would definately be another head turner from chrysler and would sell like crazy.

that car looks great, but i dont think it will become the charger sedan...my guess is that it will look like the Magnum, but without the extra window in the back..since it's coming in a couple years, they will probably update the look, maybe make it more aggressive...as if it needs it...but i would be suprised if they released this concept

In all technicality... yes, however I think "Sedan" imples that you have a usable back seat. That's why a GTP coupe is a 2 door sedan.

Man I love the babbling.

Say what you want, modern day "sedans" have 4 doors by definition. Coupes have 2 doors. That's why the Coupe Accord has 2 doors and the Sedan has 4, even though both have usable back seats.

In any case, if they say "sedan" they mean 4 door version of Magnum without the wagon ass...which is a good thing. But then again, making a 4 door car and calling it a charger would be as bad as if someone dared make a car with 2 doors that is a RWD v8 that performs better than the original GTO and then call it a GTO! My lord what a disgrace that would be! BTW, the Charger R/T was faster than any GTO ever was and it was more of a musclecar than the GTO ever was, even if the GTO was "the original." If they make a Charger, I would guarantee that if it's as big as the Magnum, it would not perform as good as the best Chargers back in the day and if it had 4 doors, that would be 10 times the disgrace you seem to think the GTO is.

I love the double standard.

By YOUR defenition... not in the dictionary or the automotive world. That's why you hear... "4 door sedan". Sometimes it's used one way... sometimes it's used another... I will not jump to conclutions either way, but I PROVED MY point unlike you just babbling.

You don't know how the Charger is going to perform so... your argument is pointless. I like the looks of the prototype better than the released "GTO".

If it was like the "GTO" it would look like a big Neon, just like the new GTO looks like a big Cavalier even the GTO redesign looks like a nice looking Cavalier with a body kit....

BTW... isn't the 4000LB 300C with an auto run about the same as a 6-speed GTO?

Ok Mike, assuming they release a 4 door saloon, seeing as how it is based on the Magnum it should perform similar, would you agree? Now if they released this as a 4 door vehicle and called it a Charger, would you then say "it is a disgrace to the name?" If not, you are a hypocrite.

BTW, in order to beat a Charger R/T this thing would have to run at least a 13.5 1/4, because that's what stock R/Ts ran. Not to mention that that is with ****ty tires, and a 3 speed automatic drivetrain and 3.23 gears.

What's the big deal about the Charger? It's not a super Bee or anything special... It only started out with the little 318 in it!!! Not all of the Chargers were bad ass.

Kinda like if ford brought back the Torino

300C weighs 4000 lbs and has an automatic... it runs 13.9 with car mag drivers.... not much tuning or weight reduction would be needed to make it run a 13.5...
