Monsoon to Monsoon swap

hey

i have the wierdest Monsoon problem ever it starts up and says BOSE instead of MONSOON

then it appears to be normal but when i turn up the vol i get no sound what so ever! i lost chiming too

and to throw a wrench in it the thing will work again every 3 weeks or so for a few days then go back to BOSE

i was wondering can i buy another MONSOON HU off ebay that works and drop that in i dunno if i wanta spend all that money on a Aftermarket

so can i swap a monsoon hu for a monsoon hu

or are they incrypted or sumthign crazy?

I've had mine start up BOSE once or twice, but when it did I just disced the battery for a couple mins and it went back to normal, have you tried unhooking the battery?

When I disconnected my Monsoon amp and turned on the HU (before the nav swap), it displayed "BOSE." When I reconnected the amp, "MONSOON" was displayed.

Is there any type of problems that you can think of occuring during operation?

i think the remote wire is not sending a signal to turn ont he amp
so i think that if there is not a signal fromt he amp the hu just says BOSE
if there is a signal it tells the radio to say MOnsoon

does anyone else know about this dreaded BOSE virus?

im gonna disconncect the battry how long tho?

but wtf...why would it say BOSE, a competing company? Does bose make anything in our cars?

i think they made the electrical board or sumthgina dn the headunit defaults to it before the amp tells it to say monsoon.

so i should just disconnect the battery?

u think my amp is blown?
what could it be i pulled teh amp and it still says BOSE
and when i put back it still does
it will randomly come back sometimes when it works

I don't know why it defaults to BOSE but Delphi, the manufactuer of our radio, makes other models that team up with BOSE components. For example, the ones found in GMC and Chevy vehicles. Same electronics for the most part, but a different design to the radio and display.

its only 20 bucks will it work?

how can i fix it should i reset the pcm?

how long to disconnect the battery?

BOSE MAKES THE SOUND SYSTEM FOR OUR CARS. Often times to make a "good" sound system in cars, manufacturers will seek out audio expers, bose is a popular one. So, while it has the name that GM picked out, "Monsoon" BOSE is the maker/designer of the sound system. I hardly think BOSE and GM are competitors.

With that said, the BOSE text comes up on the HU when a fuse is blown. Open your driver door and open up the fuse box, take out the 20 amp yellow fuse for your HU and check to make sure its not blown. If it is, replace it. If it blows right away, you have a short that you need to fix.

WRONG! Delphi manufactuers the sound system in our cars. Delphi owns Monsoon.
