where can you go to get this checked? I gave my old sub/amp set up, which was 2 12' crossfires powered by a 440w planet audio amp to my g/f and replaced mine with 2 12' JL Audio W3's and a 880w Soundstream amp. and my new setup is 1000x louder than the last one. so i wanna see how hard these hit.

I hit 131.3 with a MTX Thunder4202 Amplifier (2 channel Bridged 4 Ohm Load @ 280Watts) with 2 MTX Thunder6000 T61044A (10" dual voice coil 4 Ohm).

Not bad for only pushing 280Watts.

Cool, I have a thunder 4202 on 1 12" Alpine sub in a 1cu' fiberglass box and it sounds great. Was a hell of alot louder when I had the same sub & amp with an old Orion Bandpass box, but not nearly as clean and tight.

heck ya, nice freakin numbers
i need to build a diffent box, cause i had to aim the sub up in the trunk and i know im loosing some db's, to get it aimed back ill have to build the box into the trunk, because it would be to tall to just slide in, i think i have the potentail to hit 145db, in the proper box and a little more power, i think my old MTX amp put out alot more power than this 6.0, that 143.3 score was before i even had a aftermarket H/U in, i could turn it up any louder cause it wouldnt stop skipping, when i got the panasonic in (which got jacked) it would turn up so much louder it was INSANE for 1 12", people who heard it said upper 140's because you couldn't even stand to be in the car, and this was a box tuned for music

Last time I went on the meter, I hit 128dB. With music. From an isobaric pair of 8" woofers in a homebrew bandpass box driven with a 60 watts (bridged 2 ohm) amp.

That was in... ah... 1995 I think. Never been measured since - if a system will make my ears ring, then it's loud enough for me. </old fart>

151.8 dB with 1 JL Audio 12w6v2 in a custom ported box with a JBL 1200.1 in my 2000 VW Jetta. I now have the sub in my GA, but with a Audiobahn amp, hopefully I can improve upon that score

i hit 145db in my old GA with 1 15" Oz Audio Sub and MTX 500d. Not too bad I could have done better.

BTW if anybody wants a sub with some balls thats easy to get and has the money to back it up get a MTX 9500 12" in MTX's premade boxes. I got a friend that hit almost 155 with a single 12 in a POS sunfire with a MTX 8100d. No extra batteries, bass cubes, line drivers, caps or dynamat either.

It is a custom built ported box built to spec by a great shop in MD. I can't remember the exact cu. ft. The competition was legal format. This sub sounds amazing all the time! It hits so hard and has great SQ. IMO JL makes the best subs if your into competitions and everyday driving. A lot of subs should only be used for one or the other. The whole thing cost me $700 when the sub first came out. They are pricey, but you really get what you pay for. I just took pics today and I will be posting pics soon of my new setup in my GA
