College Football

Football camps have opened across the nation for various schools. Looks like the usual suspects will be dominating the Top 10 again this yearl like the USCs, Miami, Florida State, etc so on and so forth. Obviously USC looks really good, can't see why they won't be playing in the Orange Bowl come Jan 2005.
Who does everyone root for? Obviously I go with my boys in blue U of M... they are looking pretty good, favorable schedule other than the season finale @ Ohio State which will obviously be a real tough game and probably for the Big Ten title.

As for a sleeper, gotta go with West Virginia, playing in the depleted Big East they are the obvious pick to win the conference and get the BCS berth but if they get a few bounces their way, theres no reason why they can't go undefeated. Power running game and a good defense can take you a long way, at least until you run into a USC type team.

Hate USC...

Mostly because I go to UCLA. Regardless, there team does look pretty stacked. If their offensive line lives up to the hype, they could probably get by even though they won't have a returning starter on the line.

All I know, they're gonna F up sooner or later, and we'll beat em, the recruiting will turn back around

The only other team I see as a favorite to get to the orange bowl is oklahoma. If they take care of texas, I don't see them losing any other game.

I've always been a huge fan of the University or Florida...NO, not Florida State!! GO GATORS>>>>>woot woot!!

Ofcourse, I just wish that Zunk (head coach) or whatever his name is would leave. Spurrior rules in college football...to bad things didn't work out for him in the NFL.

Zook isn't that bad of a coach but its impossible to replace a living legend like Spurrier at Florida. I think Florida will do really good this year, they've had 3 real strong recruiting classes under Zook (then again when doesn't one of the big 3 Florida schools bring in strong classes) and Chris Leak is an awesome QB.

Actually it should be more like VT - Marcus Vick. Just too sad to see a guy with all that talent wasting it all. I mean you'd think in a case like this that big bro Michael would step in and tell him to get his sh!t straight cuz he's got the chance to do the same thing his bro did @ VTech and in the NFL.
I wish I had his talent cuz I wouldn't let it go to waste.

You got that right... Marcus, just like his brother, is a wonder on the field. Watchin' him play live is that much better, too. I go to Pitt, now, tho. I was at Virginia Tech, so the football tradition is gone.

Pitt's not bad, too bad the Larry Fitzgerald era is over there now. They should have a shot at the Big East now that the strong teams have left. Would've loved to see Fitz play another year there, especially against ND! My 2 favorite teams are Michigan and whoever plays ND!

GoBlue30, you said it all. I've been a Michigan fan since I was 10 years old. So, in other words, I hate Ohio State with all of my being. My girlfriend is from Massillon, OH and she and her family love Ohio State. Her dad and I always have at it during the season. Plus, she went to high school with OSU's QB, Zwick. She keeps telling me he was really good in HS, but he isn't anything to write home about now IMO. I'm waiting for another swift ass-kicking on November 20th...

Since I'm from the state, I've always been a WVU fan. They're gonna be extremely tough this year and they're really gonna shock a lot of people. They've slowly been building their offense to compliment their defense over the past few years. I think they could possibly pull a top 8 ranking if they play their cards right and keep the momentum throughout the season. The only thing that will hurt them is their lack of a strong schedule. I will be in Pittsburgh on Thanksgiving Day for the Backyard Brawl against Pitt. Always a good time to go up on an American Legion chartered bus with 45 screaming drunk WVU fans to see Pitt lose...

Zwick might be decent. He's got all the tools at least. WVU is gonna be real good, they have a power running game and w/ the Big East relatively weak since the breakup they should have a good shot @ a BCS bid. Strength of schedule will hurt them though. Pitt and/or Boston College could be the toughest team on their schedule.

when Krenzel went to OSU he wasnt anything special either... my cousin played football with him back in HS and i went to a few games and never noticed anything special about him, the entire team sucked.

We have Matt Guitterez, think Drew Henson a mobile QB... can make things happen outside of the pocket. College football news has him as a darkhorse heisman candidate w/ the best receiving corps in college this side of USC that is. Myself I think thats a little high being that he's never started a game but I think he'll do just fine. He's definatley not another Navarre, while Navarre was a great pocket passer... he was a sitting duck to a strong pass rush. Guitterez isn't like that, he can avoid the rush. It might take him a game or two to get used to everything but by Nov. 20th he should be a seasoned veteran and ready to go into Columbus for another great Michigan-Ohio State battle

I'm really thinking it won't be. Both teams lost their QB's and a few other strong starters. However, they're both doing wonders to fill in those spots. It will take them a few games to get used to the scheme of things, but Nov. 20th will be another classic battle to the end. I did love seeing the OSU whipping last year (although they almost had the momentum to get back in it towards the end ), I'm hoping for another awesome game this year...
