94 octane fuel gas mileage with sc

I saw a website that said that u don't get more power from ur car if u have higher octane fuel when u don't need it. u also get horrible gas mileage it says. Well I have the e/m sc, s&s headers, borla exhaust and cai and was wondering what kind of gas mileage u guys were getting. I did an experiment over the last 2 weeks running around in 94 octane fuel and slammed on the gas lesser than usual . I got 6.2 km\l or 15.5 mpg which is horrible. I have 91 octane fuel in my car and doing same experiment. have any of u boost bros using the higher octane fuel done any experiments like this????? I talked to the guy at e/m who designed the sc and he said that the sc with the cars cpu will give u 5 extra hp\ octane. My car car feels faster with more vrom with the 94 octane. any thoughts on this???? I would appreciate it

What you NEED to do is run the regular stuff for your car that it is rated for...get on a dyno. Then empty the tank (however you want to) and put in the higher octane. Get back on the dyno.

That is the ONLY way to see a difference in HP. Do not use the "it feels faster" method. Its not accurate and COULD be your head playing mind games.

Put the lower octane in the car....get the engine really heated up hook up some scan tool i.e. autotap, then take the car for some "spirited" runs. While doing this graph your KR. If you see any real KR, then repeat the same steps with a higher octane.

I actually get better mileage running on 94 octane w/sc (normal non aggresive driving) as I did before without the sc 87 - 90 octane used. Actually get better mileage with sc about 380 - 400 kms on a tank. Before sc was about 350 if I was lucky.

headers culprit

well the headers prolly the culprit for lower gas mileage. I slammed on the gas a bit so prob lost alot of gas there. .

I can get as high as 30mpg with highway driving or as low as 16mpg with "spirited" city driving. Varies with different injectors/pullies/pcm, but always stays somewhere around those numbers.

I usually get around 22-25 MPG highway, and seem to do best on 91 octane, cruising at 75MPH. Most of the time I use 89 octane, and stay away from WOT while commuting. (!)

City traffic punishes my MPG's down to around 18 sometimes, but even with traffic/city, I average 21MPG or so. I can still get 28-30 MPGs if I do all highway driving on a tank.

(No headers, DHP 15% advanced fuel trim, fenderwell CAI, 2.8" pulley, SLP.)

Last time i checked my mpg it was 28.1mpg and that was a combination of highway and city and a 1 mile run at 150mph. So my car still gets pretty good gas mileage. I always run a min. of 93 octane.

Oop, Sorrry Schweppe. Also, the shaft was done by a local place. The original shaft was actually milled from a sandcast piece. was a POS. Here's the new one.

I don't know what the code was. I don't have any scan tools. I disconnected the battery and it went away the first time. and came back a week later when i put 91 octane in the car. and then i put 94 back in and it hasn't come back yet. I think the new headers may have something to do with it

I get 23-25 mpg/highway on 93 or 94 octane and 16-18 city. I drive spirited and could probably do better with practice.
