No Hockey...

So I don't know about anyone else, but I'm really bummed there's not going to be any NHL Hockey this year. What the heck am I going to do every Tuesday and Saturday night?

Although I am a hockey fan, I really don't care if they play or not. The players are getting greedy.

I am pretty dissapointed. I don't do (play or watch) anything but hockey. . . so to me, sports are dead as of right now.

And now that I am working and schooling both full time. . . I don't even get a chance to play!! What the crap!

You do realize I'm Canadian right? There may be other sports besides hockey (yeah rrright), but I don't watch them.

Yeah. I'll probably go to more Toronto Rock (Lacrosse team) games this year. Also, I'll most likely go to a few OHL games. Minor hockey is still entertaining, plus you get to see the up-and-commers before they make it big.

^^ my dad and i were saying the same thing about the OHL. college hockey will also get a big boost in attention i think (although UofM already sells out all of it's games). hopefully ESPN and FoxSports will pick up some other type of hockey aside from the nhl.

slim, have you heard anything about the WHA coming back?

Not really. There have been rumours floating around though. Apparently the NHL organization has the option to disban in January if there's been no resolution to the lockout. There's been word that this may happen and another league (like the World Hockey League, or NAHL North American HL) would start up. I doubt that will happen though.

Wow.... I never thought people wouldn't know what's going on. It was front page news on every paper up here for a couple days.

The NHL is locked out right now. The organization and the players couldn't come to a conclusion about their collective agreement. The main issue was salary. The organization was suggesting a salary cap and the NHLPA (player's assoc.) said no way. They bantered back and forth all summer about it. Sep 15th was the deadline to resolve the issue. It came and the organization vote unanimously to lock out.
