Wheel sizes...

Hi guys,

I have a 2001 Grand Am SE, and the stock wheels are 16", with a tire size of 225/50R16.

I would like to install some new 17" wheels, with tire size of 275/40ZR17. Will these wheels fit ok? I'm assuming they will given that they are not much bigger than the stock wheels. But I wanted to get some advice before I made the change. Does anyone have any info that would suggest this is a bad idea??

Thanks!

235/45-17 is about as wide as you can go.

The correct size has been discussed before, try a search, there should be plenty of info.

There is a tire database under Wheels, Suspension and Brakes section. It covers many brands and sizes that fit the GA.
