Thinking about getting a Jetta

Its an 01 1.8T in red w/ 32k miles. It seems really nice, and I'm going to test drive it today, but... 15k is a lot of money...

So, what should I do? I'm 17 and have an 01 se. Should I sell the GA and finance if I really like it, or what?

Ya the Jetta's are nice car's i was looking at them myself, although 15k is alot for that car.
If you sell the GA make sure you try to sell it out right you will get more money for it.

I was looking for a Jetta when I found my GA. If I had found one, I would've gotten it instead.

get a GLI... they have a 1.8T, factory 18s, lip kit, custom recaros. really sweet ride. I really dont like Jettas, but the GLI is really sleek. Drop another $500 on a chip upgrade and you'll be putting down the same (or better) numbers as an SRT-4.

My friend just got one this past thursday... Boy its that thing nice. I especially like the color he picked black with metallic flakes. It looks really nice once the sun hits it.

And I thought the refresh they did to the car for '04 was ugly. When I saw it on person, I instantly loved it. The car looks so aggressive. Especially with the ground effects.

I'm surprised at how well the Jetta is still selling.

My advice stay away from VW at all costs. Poor quality, poor customer service, expensive to fix and maintain. 15k for an 01 with that many miles is highway robbery I wouldnt pay more than 10k. I hated my VW I put more money into the car than I paid for it, was probably in the shop more than it was in my driveway.

I've seen some modded Jettas with Turbos. Men were driving them and they didn't look like a chick's car.

Anyhow, I think the only thing VW needs to improve is the track record. They have to build cars that don't need to visit the shop more often than not. The Phaeton and Toureg are some masterpieces. Extremely impressive.

That car is too heavy for a little 1.8L turbo, I heard VWs are a biotch to mod (ie. upgrade turbo). Mine was nice had all the options but the engine was a POS broke all the time, timing belt snapped 2 times, bent valves, reworked head, etc I could go on and on I think I paid $5000 for the car used and end up spending another $5000 in repairs during the time I owned it. Worst 2 years of my life. Nothing was cheap to fix on that car it was gauranteed $100 at least everytime I went to the shop, which was about every other month. Clutch was going bad too when I traded it in with only 90k miles on it

... Guess I won't be getting a Jetta then, . When i test-drove it, it was really nice. The shifting was smooth and easy. Its not like some american cars where you kind of have to "jerk" it into gear. Very smooth.

I really liked the interior, too, but oh well. Time to keep looking
