Arrow Pontiac Torrent

Pontiac also announced its plans for a new sport utility vehicle, the 2006 Pontiac Torrent, at theAnaheim show. Slated to hit showrooms next fall, the Torrent will be powered by a 185 horsepower, 3.4-liter V6 in either a front-wheel or all-wheel-drive configurations. The first public showing of the Torrent is scheduled for the Los Angeles Auto Show in January.

i can just see it now...Saturn will have a version of this truck in the near future, then GMC, then a luxo-version for Buick

GM is gettin predictable...with that said, the torrent looks as ugly as the Equinox

At least it looks better than the AssTek....

Hmmm, be interesting to see how this one pans out for GM... Seems like they have been kicking the chair out from under themselves alot lately on the radical design changes......

Looks pretty good though. If they produce it like the rendition pics above.., I wonder if this another sign of where the Trailblazer is headed.......

185HP V6?? What the hell is that Nice looking vehicle, but that engine power blows (and yes, I am not expecting it to be a Ferrari, but i think that is underpowered for that vehicle and its weight)

From what I understand, it's the same platform as the Equinox, which shares it's platform with the Saturn Vue.

It's definitely something nice for Pontiac to put in the showroom...an attractive vehicle, but the 3.4 V6 is a huge disappointment in the Equinox, so I'm sure it'll be just as bad in the Torrent. If they put the Honda 3.5 V6 in it like they did with the Vue, they won't be able to keep them in stock.

I'm convinced that my Vue will outrun my GAGT1, running 0-60 in 7.0. That's pretty quick for a small SUV.

Because it is cheap and easy. That doesn't sound familiar for GM does it?

True. But what ever happened to pushing the envelope. Christ, I don't see how GM is going to improve their market share by using the same old technology. Maybe they don't want an Azteck II, but damn, the styling is fine, just throw a good motor in that bish.

Nice looking ride, but why? GM should keep Pontiac as a sporty division, leave the chunky SUVs for Chevy and GMC.

Because they can price it different than an Equinox. They don't care about a 'sporty division', they just want your money.

It's a cheap engine now, especially the labor. Nice that they outsource those assembly jobs huh?

I think they stole the tails from the 99-04 Grand Cherokee.

The engine is made in china while the equinox is made in in canada. It has plenty of power to it. The exhaust on the equinox sounds like a custom job. I cant complain about the truck yet. Havent had any problems with it so far.

it is. I asked the guy who sold me the car and thats where he said it was made. plus if you got to equinoxcentral.com you can find all the info there. your lookin at the 3.5 liter in that pic anyway. its an "american made" car that not 1 piece of it is made in america. so much for chevy's "american revolution"
