Chevrolet Cobalt

I was just lookin at new cars and i came across the new 2005 Cobalt from Chevrolet. It has a Supercharged inline ECOTEC 2.0L with 205 H.P. And it even comes in a manual. Pretty nice for the $21,000 to $23,000 sticker price. Also i saw on RKsport they already have a bodykit, spoiler, and ram air hood for it. Which they preveiwed at SEMA 2004. Just curious what peoples opinions and comments are.

The 205 Hp is at the wheels on 87 octane. Just imagine the possiblities with 100 octane and a much smaller pulley. We are talking 13's for dirt cheap.

**** the car on its own should run low 14's stock. 2900 lbs and 200hp at the wheels. My GTP puts down around 195 stock and weighs 3600 lbs. Best i managed stock was a 14.6, now add about 10 hp and shave about 700 lbs. I want one.

who is telling you this nonsense? And since when does octane give you more power?

$21-23k is a good price? I got some great land to sell someone then.

What nonsense is this i was given? If its the 205 at the wheels, i am assuming its going to put dow the same power as a redline, and i have seen dyno charts at 200 at the wheels. As for weight i dont remember where i read that.

Octane doesnt give you more power, it helps to eliminate knock. When you drop the pulley size a bit you are going to gain knock. Thus loosing power. When you raise the octane you reduce the knock thus gaining power. THe gas its self does not give you power its the timing.

Its a lot easier on a car that came tuned for a supercharger than one that didnt like your grand am. Sue it may not be that simple, but it will deffinatly help.

If its not going to help then why is it that so many tuners run much higher boost on race gas, then on street gas?

errrr, I know exactly what your saying, I am being sarcastic in the idea that it isn't as easy and everything you're saying it is.

ummm.... buddy you must nto be reading up on the cobalt... the engine is maxed out!

many articles have been released about putting a smaller pulley on the engine... it just isnt feasable... something along the lines of creating too much heat, therefore defeating the purpose of the s/c... i cant dig up the article somewhere if it is needed

If im not mistaken they come intercooled from the factory runnig near 13 lbs of boost. The blower they put on it is capable of around 18 lbs. How is it maxed out? If all else you could port the blower which would decrease intake temps.

If you could find those articles i would be interested. I could be wrong, but from the info i have im not.

hesus i HATE the neon, errr srt-4 but for the same price you cna get oen of those as the price of one of these POS cars

if you liek this, spend a few K more and grab an impreza WRX or a subaru legacy, or a evolution, or a neon srt-4 or hell almost ANY other midsized high HP car on the market cause 23k for this 200 HP POS is so NOT worth it.
