lets hear some votes......
Ok so back in september I wrecked and totalled my 94 GAGT against a 2005 BMW Z4
..... i absolutly LOVED that car. Anyways, come mid-spring I shgould have enough for another car(driving a teal 93 cavalier now) and ive been looking at a few options. By about april I should have around 10-12 grand to play with. So heres what I was thinking about, and if you have any other suggestions, Im sure you guys wont hesitate to let me know. 1) Get another Grand AM like my previous and put a 3400 in it. I figure if I can get one for about 6 G's then I could have 6 more G's to fix it up just how i want it. (Maybe even put an L67 in it , PITA, I know, but possible)2) 2001 Bonneville SSEi -- IMO an awsome lookin car with a great engine. Kinda big and Grandpa-esque, but it looks cool anyways. Plus is got leather and a HUD. 3) 1996-1998 Mitsubishi 3000 GT VR-4 -- Ive always hated imports, except this one. So Id feel kinda hypocritical with all the cut downs Ive made against imports but i REALLY like this car. Mad horsepower and looks are superb. I just hate to give up my American automotive pride that Ive held more dear than life itself. Ok, so thats this gist of it. Oh yeah, a couple more things. I wont finance, I cant afford the collision insurance(must have it if car is financed in VA). Also,......nevermind I forgot. Anyways, let me know what yall think. Thanks |

I am going to go with none of the above. With 10-12 grand you should look for a newer smaller American car, or an older Honda/Toyota/Nissan, otherwise you will have issues.
J-bodys have tons of aftermarket and the ecotec engine is designed by Lotus. Civic has tons of aftermarket and if tastfully done could be very nice. An older Maxima might be fun. Those are my suggestions.

I agree. I would find a used Honda or Toyota. I personally wouldn't want to go through with all the problems like I did with a GA.

you can get a 92-95 for 10-12 grand... probably will have high miles and you will probably need to rebuild the tranny (common problem with them). i know my vr4s i was trying to buy one last summer. my neighbor has a '92 vr4 with about 55,000 miles. sat for 3 years straight and needed alot of work. i wanted that car so bad. but i talked myself out of it. it was a waste of a gt the wheels were even rusted to the brakes, it was sad. he finally got enough money to fix everything... and now it runs (he drives it), but it doesnt sound good at all.Quote:

VR4 is a good car, but I would also strongly consider the 01 Bonnie SSEi. 3800 SC..yummy. I like the looks of those new Bonnies.

I would get the SSEi if I were you. 3800 S/C and features up the wazoo. I can tell you first hand it is a very smooth ride, but you won't feel disconnected from the road.

#2 out of those. I wouldnt waste my cash on a VR4, I raced one from a roll once and he was no where to be found. They are quick out of the hole and thats it.

Today I saw this late model SSEi Bonniville. It had aftermarket rims, exhaust and hood. It looked very nice.
