There's still hope

Hopefully both sides can get their ish together. I'm dying without hockey this year!

I erad earlier this week that the NHL turned down the unions offer and the union turned down the NHL's counter offer. I won't miss anything but it really sucks for all the fans that love hockey.

Its hard with no hockey, from what ive read lately it looks to me like the NHLPA is making all the offers and trying to make a season. NHL just keeps rejecting everything.

NO HOCKEY this year. Sorry to you hockey fans out there. I myself am a hockey fan, but i dont think it is coming back any time soon. It will comeback when the players agree to a salary cap, and thats not going to be anytime soon.

The union is actually coming up with some good offers too. Personally I think Bettman needs to be strung up by his toenails. Handing out fines to Atlanta's owners for saying next year they'll use replacement players, getting angry over the release of a memo to owners, saying that if he finds out who did it they're career in the NHL is over. Please. Those aren't the actions of a man who cares if there is a season or not. He's just upset that the league had to buy the Sabres won't make millions on the sale.
I'd really love to see some pro hockey but I as the days go by I'm accepting more and more the fact that I may not see it this year. I actually won't be surprised if the league never overcomes this and disbands. I just hope teams with owners that have part ownership in their arena will come out of this and join any new league that may form in the NHLs place.

whats worse is they play replays down here on Fox Sports South, of Nashville games, from last year. Its like teasing you. Ive watched 3 Wings games this month from last year.

Yeah Comcast has been doing that in this area. But they're showing Flyers games from the '70s. The only way I can see them celebrate a Stanley Cup victory.
At least Philly's minor league team is kicking ass, they should be a championship contender this year.

I miss the NHL, but for now the AHL makes a good substitute. Go Admirals!

The Admirals are good, 4th best team in the league right now. The AHL may have to become the new NHL, they have a lot of teams and most of the cities pack their small arenas on a consistent basis.

yea i've been dying too ... theres nothing good on the tube besides football on saturday, sunday and monday night. watching hockey took up most of my weekday nights.

only good thing was the larionov farewell game in moscow and a charity game the wings had a few weeks back.

[rant]
as for the red wings ... they'll never be the same. dave lewis is an idiot and tried keeping all the old veterans who have trouble tieiing their skates because of their bad arthritis. the wings only have two good young prospects in zetterberg and datsyuk because that idiot traded away sean avery no one else stands out enough on the wings. shanahan and chelios are ooolllddd and play nothing like they used to. hatcher keeps getting hurt. manny is mediocre at best. yzerman is gone. larionov is gone. draper has sucked ever since the 96 playoffs when he got his **** wrecked by claude lemuix. lidstrom is a strong solid defenseman but is also going to be gone soon, and has been tossing around the idea of going back to sweden to raise his kids there.
its going to take a long time to get some fresh legs established and molded together as a team.
burn in hell dave lewis for pile-driving the wings franchise right into the ground.

Yea, I think a lot of bathe older players in the league might not be coming back, whenever pro hockey decides to come back. The longer the strike goes on, the more the older guys will start thinking "wow, maybe I just just go back home and spend time with the family"

I thought Draper had a good year, for him. last year. The one thing that bothers me the most is this was probably Yzerman's last season and now its not going to happen. He is who made me love hockey and has been my hockey icon. Just wanted one last season to watch him play, kind of a farewell season.

the thing with draper is he is the only one in the NHL that i see with hustle. he forechecks and goes crazy to get the puck. if/when he does get the puck though he doesnt know what to do. he was mad that a few of his teammates were picked over him for the all star game. if you're going to think you're hot **** then play like it too.
cry me a river kris, you suck

I'm a HUGE hockey fan and I go through phases. First I'll miss it like crazy, then I won't care. Right now, I don't care. Some things have been said by players that are just plain dumb. Tie Domi really showed what an asshat he is by saying the salary rollback proposed by the NHL was an insult to the player. Give me a focking break. If I even made 1% the salary of a star player, I'd be happy. But no, they have to bitch an moan because they don't want to "only" get 75% of their previous $6 million dollars. As far as I'm concerned the NHLPA can take their lockout and shove it. Greedy bastards!!!
