More rebates on GTOs

Got this off another forum dont know if its confirmed or not but I know a few of you are interested in one...

The new rebate should start on the 10th as a part of red tag clearance sale.. according to several dealers..of course, you have to get a loan through GMAC to qualify, but you do get the 2.9% for 60 months and $5500 cashback.

Whats next GM offering "happy endings" when you guy a GTO

Wow, those are crazy rebates, I'd buy one if I was ready to get a new car. Getting a V8 for that price would make me forget about the somewhat bland looks.

I went to the dealer yesterday with my mom... Right now if I was to trade in my grand am as is, they are giving me $1,000 for the grand am (trade in) $5,500 cashback....

for a smart buy i could have this car in my driveway tomorrow for $332.27... That is a very tempting price... For a v8, rwd, nice leather, and retail of 33,495... that is a steal... although i couldn't possibly afford insurance on it

Why not? I think Amraam said he pays just a bit more than he did with the GA for insurance on it. Or maybe it was less.

As I understand it, the smartbuy isn't really smart. Personally, I wouldn't purchase the GTO being what the residual value on American automobiles usually are like. Especially pontiac. Look at leasing if you are interested.

I checked my insurance, the GTO is $15 more expensive. Although, my sister (16 years old) will be jumpin onto our insurance account once they give her her license and my insurance MAY skyrocket..

Thats a crappy deal man they're offering the rebate but they make up for it by giving you a horrible trade on your car. I'm not sure how rebates work are they directly from GM or the dealer? If its from GM that means the dealer would make a KILLING off your car only giving you $1000 on the trade.

I agree with vintalage anything that has a pontiac badge on it you're better off leasing.

Definitely lease, do not buy an american car unless you are going to keep it forever and don't care about resale value. GTO insurance (for the 8th time on these forums ) is NOT bad at all, maybe a few dollars more than a GA.

Actually they aren't. 05 models are going to be here at the end of the month....much faster than expected, and they want to get rid of all 04's. 04's just hit their 1 year anniversary of release, remember they weren't released in August like most new model years.

Isn't it sad though..

Its like the Grand Am taught everyone how bad it sucks to get raped in owning a domestic vehicle over a long period of time and seeing how you get no return. In turn, some of us will never again want to own a domestic vehicle. And its totally understandable and justifiable.

I think another reason is b/c GM hasnt reached their sales projections for the GTO.

Oh. Well that's better than expected. I thought they were giving you $1000 for your GA. That would be a joke. A mazda dealer I went to offered me $9000 with 49k miles on my car. How many miles are on your car?

Like I said, if you are interested, go for the GTO. I suggest you get rid of your car while you can if you want to. Looks like a good oppurtunity.

Are they actually giving you 13k or just playing a numbers game ?? Most dealers will inflate trade-in value and tack on **** elsewhere...

he's not getting $13k, I don't care what he says they told him. Especially when they carfax his VIN and see the accidents.

GM lowered their build and sales numbers for the 05 to around 10k vehicles as opposed to the 16k for 2004's

people can continue to bash the GTO all they want, but untilo they have driven one, let alone owned one, they are just ignorant. Is it everyone's ideal car? No. But it is a helluva comfortable car, plenty of power, and has a great fit and finish (so long as you don't want to haul/carry much: back seats are worthless for objects because of how little the fronts slide forward but comfortable for people, and the trunk is small). This car kicks the GAs ass, and is as good a fit and finish as anything I have driven...and I have driven thousands of cars seeing I use to work for a Ford/Lincoln/Mercury/pontiac/Buick/GMC dealer
