GM Now has $5500 Rebates

General Motors Adds Rebates as High as $5,500 to Increase Sales
www.bloomberg.com

Dec. 8 (Bloomberg) -- General Motors Corp., the biggest spender on auto sales incentives, will offer new rebates as high as $5,500 in some U.S. regions starting Dec. 10 after sales fell 16 percent in November, according to an incentive Web site.

The rebates are only available to buyers who use General Motors' finance unit for loans, according to Autodollars.com, a Web site that collects incentive information. The new incentives are part of a so-called ``Red-tag'' sale on 2004 and 2005 models that runs through Jan. 3. General Motors' spokesman Deborah Silverman did not return phone calls seeking comment.

General Motors has been using special sales events such as 72- month loans and a guaranteed interest rates on future purchases for the last several months to increase dealer visits as models from competitors such as Toyota Motor Corp. have gained ground. North American President Gary Cowger said Dec. 3 the company will remain ``aggressive'' with incentives.

The Detroit-based company's share of the U.S. market fell in November to a record monthly low of 24.8 percent from 28.2 percent in the same month a year earlier, according to Autodata Corp. of Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

Considering. I'm definately looking at what the consequences would be. Though he didn't say it, I'm assuming he's going to purchase the GTP. I would be leasing the GTO so I wouldn't have any issues as far as resale goes.

Hmmm.... seems lilke the big car company is getting desperate.

I think a better plan would be to lower the prices to begin with. GM used to be KING of bang for the buck. Evidently they didn't hear the public's respose to their new sky high pricing.

Who in their right mind pays 30 Grand for a Chevrolet FWD sedan when they can get an Acura sedan for less money?

Well, perhaps when they get knocked down to 2nd place by Toyota, the bean counters might get a clue.

They still make the best bang for the buck used cars.

Seriously if I were you I would not bother. Why? Because it is an expensive car, resale is low (just wait.. it will be), leasing is a ripoff, and from the way you talk about cars, you would be better suited spending the same money on a more quality car. There you have it.

Why? If I had the money, I would be "purchasing" the GTP, because it would be modded. The style is growing on me. I know you like Altima's, but if I can get a roomier car that's faster and easier to mod for thousands less(after rebates), I think it's a good deal.

Thats basically how i got the GA, i bought it for less than what it cost to build the car. The dealership almost wouldnt sell it to me but i called my stepmom, who works at the GM HQ's and she made a couple calls. All in all, you take a 2003 GAGT, use employee discount, then rebates offered, then at the time military rebates an extra 1k, then tax free (military). Its worth it then. The price i got, nobody else can touch. Thats why i love my GA and GM.

Not to sure, It almost sounded like only on SUV's And Trucks! But this could be all talk.

Sometimes i think, that was talked about a few year ago is begining to un-fold with Gm, Being Bought out or being part of Honda By 2010. Sometime i wonder. They already use a Honda Engine in the Vue, Would not surpise me. I personally very much doubt i will own another GM probably be a Honda/Toyota.

A GTO and GPGTP are 2 differnet worlds......one is a legit car worthy of discussion and debate, the other an afterthought until it cost 3,000 used as a winter beater.
