Manning and his TD passes

anyone else notice the majority of his passes come from 10 and 15 yards from the endzone? not many from 20+

not trying to downplay his skill, but im sure a lot of quarterbacks could put up similar touchdown numbers if their team always chose to throw instead of run in the redzone

it also helps to have three great receivers as well

i think his wide-outs deserve some props too...but nonetheless, congrats on the record

i've also heard that in 1984, Marino didn't play in 3 games, too. and 14 of Manning's TD's have been from five yards or less.

... None of your comments are nice unless it involves someone from NE... evAr.

Seriously though, he does throw an awful lot, but he also run that offense himself. Regardless of where he throws the ball, Peyton is an All-Star athlete with the kind of field intelligence to win championships.

like i said, im not putting down his talent, he is obviously an amazing quarterback. just commenting on the TD passes, if brady were in the same spot id make the same comment

i am biased obviously towards my home teams. the way i was brought up, i do have nice things to say about other teams, but most of the other teams i like dont do too well so i try and keep my mouth shut
like buffalo, im a big bills fan, i was a giants fan when they had collins but not anymore

ill try to tone down my biased comments, i realize they make me seem like an ass hole... but i swear if youre raised to tolerate new england sports and their losing ways like i was (being born at the end of the bruins, red sox, and celtics... good years) youre bound to have some ass hole tendancies , especially when all of a sudden some of my teams are good again

but manning doesnt have to "run that offense himself" his team is full of talent, and they have a great runningback they fail to take full advantage of.
i was just curious if anyone else noticed the red zone passing thing, my dad pointed it out to me a couple weeks ago. i wonder if dan marinos were the same deal mostly

Yeah, I saw the Colts game last week, I think, and he was throwin' the ball in the endzone from about 4 yards out...

45+ TD passes in one season is a lot, though, so I'd imagine Marino made the same short yardage TD passes once and while... Just a guess, tho.

i would assume its easier to get into the endzone with the defense spread out instead of trying to smash it through the middle from the 4 with everyone up on the line. 5 reciever spread + zone defense = easy td.

i wouldnt doubt that marino didnt have a few 4 or 5 yd td's either. but manning can read defenses very well and audibles all the time to accomodate to them.

^^true true

i've never seen a team audible and call plays at the line as much as the Colts...even on video games Manning calls a lot of plays at the line

Pittsburgh's offensive line + Bettis/Staley = easy TD... I guess I'm partial to the "shove it down your throat" offense...

That's funny now that you mention it... I personally never got into video games, but i have friends who will play some of the Sunday match-ups on Xbox a few days before... What's even funnier is that the scores are never too far off from reality.

bettis could easily be one of the linemen himself... that guys a beast. when you have bettis or duce staley running the ball for you, then ram in down your throat may apply in that situation.

i dont think the colts have that great of the running game. their offense is so pass oriented that i dont see them really working on the running aspect of the O as much as they focus on passing the ball. manning cant just pull audibles out of his ass like that left and right for the entire game. they work on it extensively in practice.

when i played the colts in madden, manning would take up virutally all the time the play clock allowed him. he would call all sorts of audibles after i swtiched around my secondary or d-line.

RAZE has disabled reputation
His numbers may exceed Marino's but EVERYONE knows that Dan Marino was a MUCH BETTER QB than Peyton Manning. Marino blows Manning away in any category.

OT: Peyton's brother should be cut from the NFL. He FOCKING sucks!!!!!! What a joke.

Eli was 4 for 18 against Baltimore, with a 33.7 rating.

1 TD and 6 INT this season.

C'mon now... even NE could beat the Giants.
