No, in a MT car you always put the car in either reverse or 1st gear when parked. Now if you were to have remote start when the car starts there would be a problem. I know that on my cavalier you also need to put down the cluth the start to car. Im not sure if that also applies to other cars too. So basically no you can't do it.

It can be done, but with more wiring. You will NEED to use the ebrake, an have it sense that the car is out of gear. Otherwise you wont start it.

Exactly. It is a bit more wiring, but can most definitely be done. On the very rare circumstances where the car is designed where it needs to be in gear when parked like grandamgt6969 said than it's still possible, but requires a lot more work, and a maybe bit of modification. (this is the case with the GA. My 2001 5-speed requires the car to be in reverse to remove the key. But, a B&M short shift kit eliminates this requirement. Plus, it's a great mod anyway. )

I wouldn't do it....always put your car into gear when you park it. NEVER rely on your PARKING brake (damnit how many times do I have to tell you guys its not an EMERGENCY brake...its for parking....or fishtailing ).

Behind the clutch pedal is a switch that closes when you put the clutch to the floor. When you turn the key, power is on one of those two wires. When you depress the clutch, the switch closes and power passes through to the starter motor.

When you install your remote starter, find out which wire goes to the starter and have the remote energize that one.

Like others have said, make double sure that the car is in neutral because it can start in gear and idle off into a tree, another car, your dog, a neighbor kid, etc. Maybe a switch inside that you turn on power to the remote start after you set the brake and have left it in neutral would work.

did this in my s-10, a .001 cent zip tie around the clutch switch (to keep the button in) solved this, depends on the car to if it will start or not w/ in gear, it takes alot out of the started to actualy move the whole car, not jsut the flywheel... but w/ the remote starts i have, if it dosent start the first pulse, the second pulse is longer... sooner or later the pulse will be long enough to start while in gear...

i rely on my ebrake... its an ebrake when its the pull up handle, and a parking break when its on the floor... is the way we always described it. and when i park on a hill, its not good to let the car rest on the park pin... no no no, i always stop, pull the ebrake , then put it in park... so absoluty no pressure is on the park pin...

and yes, ebrake for fishtails is necessary, unless you want to whip the wheel back and forth... my a$$ wont come out from me unless i pull the ebrake around a corner... my fav is the 45 degree drive forward... freaks everybody out...

. Hexx, take video of it. I am going to make a small video of my car and a few friends cars (WS6, SS, and a few blown cobras) and I will throw yours in there too.

Posting to agree with everyone. I have remote start on my Z, and it's 6-speed. I never leave it in gear.
