Cadillac STS-V

Quote:
GM’s keeping the momentum going at its luxury brand with a host of wonderfully powerful and agile new models under the new “V-Series” banner.

First came the CTS-V, a 400-horsepower mid-size sedan developed through a zillion laps at the famed Nürburgring racetrack in Germany that could give the BMW M5 headaches — and for a lot less money.

Now there’s the new Cadillac STS-V, with a monster 440-horsepower engine tucked into a very capable chassis surrounded by sophisticated styling, technology and an attractive and sumptuous cabin.

To get the lowdown on this sensational luxury sports sedan, and for info on future V-Series offerings from Cadillac, pick up the February 2005 issue and read Detroit Editor Matt DeLorenzo’s cover story.

God I love Cadillac. At least one division of GM is going in the right direction, too bad they cost way more than I'll ever afford.

odd, two people i know are actually switching from bmw to cadillac.
my girlfriend is going from a 325xi to a cts (possibly v) she was very dissapointed in the quality of the luxury and little things in her bmw, little things would break or not work, shes sick of it
the other is a friend who just likes the styling better.
ive never been a bmw person myself... but the 6 series... mmmmm
id still take a caddy any day

Very nice car. Very nice.
I am glad to see there is at least one US brand that can compete with Europeans. Because Lincoln is nowhere near it.

Since the CTS-V is getting the Vette motor, I'll take a guess and say they're gonna use that with a supercharger for the STS-V? If it's just a Northstar V8 that would be kinda of disappointing, doesn't it already come with motor as an option?

**** BMW and their handicapped looking trunks.

This caddy burries the competition! Makes the M5 look cutsie tootsie.

Damn I need one of these... and a smaller SC pulley etc...

I've been waiting for more than just spy pics of the STS-V. This is a very nice car. Man I wish I had sum-oh money. I thought it would look a little more aggressive though.

Cadillac and the rest of GM is gearing up for the glut of baby boomers that are retiring soon, selling the house and moving someplace warm. They're young enough to enjoy performance and have the money to pay for it.

i hate to rag on this car but i think the cts-v looks better. its cool and all that its supercharged but i dont like the front. the headlights are too small or something. and all in all jsut looks kind of..... goofy, i guess. but to them for raising the bar.

For sure GM and Caddy are moving in the right direction!
where did you hear this from?? i swear i've seen pics of an XLR-V under wraps running laps at that German race track?

if i can find the picture i will post it...if i remember correctly the test model was just all flat black, with flat black rims...and the text under the picture described the minor exterior changes for the XLR's V-Series

ill keep looking for it

edit--I didnt have to look hard...Google rules!!

although there is no description of it...

edit again...i found some info...

"What Edmunds.com Says: With the right engine and a little suspension tuning this could be a formidable foe to Mercedes' SL55.

What We Know: With the CTS-V already burning up the streets with its Corvette-sourced V8, Cadillac has turned its attention to the XLR for V-Series treatment. Instead of an LS6 V8, however, the XLR-V is expected to get a supercharged version of its standard 4.6-liter Northstar V8. A full complement of performance enhancements such as larger wheels and tires, recalibrated suspension and stronger brakes should round out the package giving Cadillac a serious performance entry in the luxury convertible segment."
