wax choices

so my boss is gettin married next sunday and wants my to detail his benz for him. I went to advanced to get some wax and couldn't really figure out which kind to buy.

I broke it down to either mothers gold series($10.99), zymol(12.99) or that new stuff from meguires called nxt generation(16.99)

looking for the best finish so maybe he will let me do his wifes CLK drop-top afterwards. oh yea and both cars are black

any advice would be helpful

I used to use a 3M wax on my black Grand Am. It worked great, I can't remember what else the name was, but it was made by 3M in a black bottle.

he has asserted his dominance over competing males with the loud masculine sound form his exaust system, Females searching for a potential mate will be driven away by weaker exaust systems and attracted to his SLP.

oh really?

Zaino is by far the best but Zymol is second best. I have yet to try that New Meguiars stuff but if its anything like the rest of their products its probably sub par. 3M also makes some great stuff that I use quite a bit.

I'd say go with the NXT Stuff. I've used all 3 waxes you've listed and I like the Meguires best. I have a Black '00 GA and it helped my 5 year old paint alot. The good thing about the Meguires is that it's polymer based, like Zaino, meaning it can be layered. The more layers you put, the less swirls and more shine.

Meguires NXT tech wax is by far the best I've ever used. It makes the paint look so deep and glossy (the wet look). The best part is how durable it is. I put it on last september and now even in February after every wash the finish comes back.

zaino then zymol then the Meguires tech wax in that order. Seen a zaino car in person and it was amazing. Use Zymol on mine and couldnt be happier. My friend uses the tech wax and loves it almost as much as i do with the zymol. oh and zymol has a great smell to it too

Whatever wax you use get the claybar treatment first.. It smoothed my paint down and got rid of tons of "floating specs" that sunk into my old wax....

Zymol was rated second longest lasting wax next to zaino a few years back. If you want logentivity (which I would) then go with Zymol. Not sure how long the others last though.

Off Topic, I Zaino'd the beginning of November and washed it for the first time last saturday. There's been salt on the car for over a month and the water still beads up on it.... I love this stuff.

Now I'm no expert on this but I did detail cars for about a year and I learned that claybar takes a tiny bit of the clearcoat off everytime you use it so I would be careful of using it every time you wax. Also, you'll want to strip the old wax off everytime you start using a different wax. So if you've been using Zymol and want to try Meguiars then I'd recommend stripping the Zymol off first. Also, I've found that a great wax to use is called Snap Seal. It's good stuff if you can get a hold of it. Like I said, I detailed cars for a while so I lifted a couple bottles for my own use.

In regards to the question about a white car, my mom used to have a white Pontiac Transport and I always waxed that with Liquid Glass. It's an incredible wax and it has a '66 Corvette on the bottle so if you see it, be sure and give it a try. Hope some of this helps guys!
