Upgrading My System

Well i just purchased an audiobahn A8000T and i cannot wait to put it to work. I currently have one 15 Solo Baric L7. I was running 490 watts at 2ohms once the bahn gets in ill be running 800 watts at 2 ohms. People that have used Audiobahns amps before can ya give me some feedback on them, performance, durability etc...

Couple Pics for ya...

i don't like the audiobahn stuff myself. had three overrated amps come through the shop (a small percentage of the total product, but still) and that was enough for me. we dropped them. we dropped all of their stuff simply because they're too looks based and not performance based enough. they do look good though...

and round L7's? never heard of such a thing. plus, i don't like kicker's L series, way too sloppy for my liking... (i'm a big sq nerd)

Never owned an Audiobahn amp, but have two 12" audiobahn subs. I've heard good things about the amps however.

i like you

a friend of mine had an audiobahn amp that constantly overheated, and he gave it a TON of room to breathe

personally i dont like kicker either... too much sound and not enough clarity, rockford is the same. JL probably makes the best balance between the two. my favorite subs are RE though. :drool

I got a couple more questions real quick...

I got an MTX Thunder 8302 (2_30 amperage fuses on the amp) at which ill be running about 200 watts total at 4ohms from for my 6x9's. And the Audiobahn A800T (2_30 amperage fuses on the amp) will be running 800 watts total by 2 ohms. So thats roughly 1000watts or so total power. Now what amperage fuse should i get, i have 4 gauge wiring now with a 60 amp maxi fuse in it. Also is there anything else i should be aware of or consider before i hook this all up?

audiobahn has its ups and downs just like every other manufacturer. In my opinion they rank in the high middle, factors including price, clarity, longetivity, and overall quality. You wont be dissapointed unless you have owned high end. Does anyone else have anything they believe is high end, or "high middle" end. Like below high end, but better than everyother brand? My personal fav is Rockford Fosgate. Cant beat it...

High middle end to me would be Resonant Engineering, Image Dynamics, Adire Audio, JL Audio, stuff of that magnitude.

And i'll gladly run my XXX against whatever RF stuff you have anyday.

Where can I buy that stuff? Any websites or anything? Also, I have not dealt much with any of those particular brands. How much more DB do you think those put out, 1000W to 1000W Rockford Fosgate. Just wondering. Also, which do you think is more DB to $?

look at it this way ... 12" XXX > 13" W7
both are rated at 1000w rms. however JL does not suggest going over 2000w on their setup, while the XXX can be powered at well over 2500w.

DB and SQ. XXX excels in both categories and sits apart from all other subs. it was built with good SQ in mind, however the decibles it puts out are incredible as well. the XXX is IMO the best subwoofer on the market. www.reaudio.com call them and they will give you the number to a local dealer. if there isn't one near you, they will sell you direct from the factory. if i remember correctly i got my 2 12"s for $365 a piece as opposed to rockfords or JL's top subs at $500+

... oh, sorry, forgot to ask for it. I am sure everysingle person in here thinks something that some other person spends their money on is a waste of money. Obviously, it is something we like to spend our money on, and know if it is a waste of money or not.

Resonant Engineering www.reaudio.com
Adire Audio www.adireaudio.com
Image Dynamics www.imagedynamicsusa.com (think that's it, google it if i'm wrong)

any modification can be deemed a waste of money. but if we're all going for mediocre, let's just grab us some sony subs and call it a day. then you should sell your grand am and get a sprint.

just as a suggestion, i do agree that a company like JL audio is very good, but i'll quickly compare the W7 and the XXX from Resonant Engineering. an 18" XXX can be had for less than a 10" W7. the XXX will get louder and retain high quality sq. the W7 has equally good sq, but doesn't get as loud. the RE is rated at 1600 watts but it's very common to see them see 2200+. a W7 is rated at varying levels of 1000 and under, but i would never push them beyond 1500. the XXX is clearly the winner.

and the poster who asked what the dB gain would be, it entirely depends on your enclosure. if you have a crappy enclosure, your going to see crappy dB scores on any mic. if you have a ported enclosure with lower tuning, you're most likely going to see lower dB scores than in an enclosure with higher tuning. it all depends on install.

update: called my dealer last night and apparantly he sells both 10s and 12s for the same price of $365 still. the $365 includes shipping to your door from vegas. keep in mind, the XXXs are easily 40-50lbs a piece.
