Adding a Carputer

Well i am planning on added a pc to my 02' GAGT during the summer and i have a question. I was wondering what is the easiest way of connecting the line-out from the pc to the amp. I plan on removing the stock HU and using the computer as the stand-alone player.
I've been looking around at different products and i have no clue on what i would need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated....

is there a product that can take the harness from the stock HU and convert it for Aux-input?

Mini jack to RCA converter. It would turn your headphone jack into RCA's. Would that work?

sorry for the confusion.
my original plan was to connect it to the stock monsoon amp. But if it is easier to get a RCA adapter for the HU harness I would go that route...

G.F.L. on the pre-made custom harness that lets you connect to the Monsoon Amp.

An aftermarket amp is the way to go..... or an FM Modulator.

i agree with the aftermarket amp.. however if funds are short.. its not very hard to do.. just use those quick connects on the wires..

If you're doing a carputer, get an aftermarket headunit and amp. You'll notice a difference in sound quality, it's well worth it.

I don't see where you getting an aftermarket head unit changes anything....either way you'll have to relocate the head unit. Might as well try to find space for a smaller head unit.

Just a thought, but custom is custom. My GA has a little box in the headliner(not sure what its called). It looks as if with a little work you could fit a single din HU in it. THat wouild be cool with the HU above and the LCD below.

Others that have done the LCD in the Grand Am thing have taken their stock head unit out, fit a 7" screen in its place, put an aftermarket head unit under the HVAC controls. Some have gone crazy and re-fiberglassed the trim ring, put the screen in the stock head unit place, put the aftermarket head unit under that, put the hvac controls on the very bottom.

If anyone knows how to do this, let me know. I plan on doing this in my ride very soon...already have the screen and everything, just have no idea as to how to customize the dash.....if i don't get a response from anyone on here, i'm gonna go to a local car shop and inquire as to how much it would cost to get them to do it. Would rather do it myself, but i'm impatient......

i am planning on doing a custom install with bondo, sandpaper, etc. i plan on the xenarc 700tsv touchscreen lcd and a mac mini. just not sure if i should relocate the hvac controls 1 step lower. i plan on putting the mini in either the center compartment or the open spot below the hvac. so, to the guy wondering a few weeks back, i'll keep you posted on progress. do the same.

later.
