Mazda6 or Jeep Cherokee

I need some thoughts on what will replace my aging problematic Grand Am GT. The 2005 Jeep Cherokee Laredo (Nicely equipted) or a fully loaded Mazda6 Sedan.

This is like apples to oranges man. You mean Grand Cherokee right? Personally I'd go for the 6 because I like cars, not trucks. The 05 GC is supposed to drive much better than the previous generation though.

^^i agree...it depends on what you need it for

personally i'd pick the 6 (in Lapis Blue i might add...), i love the new Grand Cherokee's, but i'm more in love with the Mazda6!

Grand Cherokee hands down. But its what you're going to be using it for that matters.

go with mazda 6 the jeep is junk maybe after the 06 years will be worth driving . the new jeeps and all have a big problem with trannys. the old tranny company was just bought out and now they are testing every single one. ( i know because they are doing it right across the streat from my work)thats why the srt4 had a big recall even before they were out for production 1 in 8 trannies in them were bad so i say mazda and down the road maybe the jeep we will see with this new company

Well, with the way gas prices are, you'd be stupid not to go with the 6!

Well I can see myself being a family man in the next 3 years or so which would mean the Jeep Grand Cherokee would suit me better. I drive a lot, the GA has 206K KM's on it so a Jeep would be expensive on gas. My bro-in-law gets me the family discount. However I love the looks of the Mazda6 and I do still enjoy the feel of driving a sports car. Insurance on either of these new vechicles is only a couple dollars difference monthly. Any more comments would be greatly appreciated.

Jeep Cherokee's are garbage. Cheap interiors and they fold like a cheap suit in accidents.

No, I respect imports depending on the company. I have found that Mazdas tend to be complete trash from what I've seen. My friends, or close family have had (Millenia, 626, protege, miata) Also, My brother has been a mechanic for mazda at Congressional Mazda in Rockville for about 10 years now. To this day, he still swears they are complete trash from the problems he has seen, and still see. He is also always telling me how it seems they are putting a new transmission in a Tribute just about every week.

talk to mechanics that work for any car company and its the same thing, its their job to work on cars with problems, the ones that run well generally dont visit the mechanic much so they only see the ones with problems

Go with the 6. Beautiful car, and still a decent size.

Get the 6. V6 with a 5 speed manual can't be beat. Neither can the handling: spot on! Almost got one myself a few weeks ago, but the payments were too steep for my checkbook. But what a superb car!

If you want something a little smaller, cheaper to buy, and better gas mileage on essentially the same suspension and chassis, look at the 3s. Really nice little car for the money.
