Toyota Camry LE vs Honda Accord LX

This is my review/comparison of these 2 cars, if I was shopping for a mid-sized family sedan around 20k these would be up there on the list. I've driven both several hundred miles each on a rental car.

Standard options - camry
Exterior styling - accord
Interior styling - accord
Braking - accord
Handling - equal
Acceleration - camry
Ride comfort - close call but I'd lean towards accord

The accord is an awesome car its the first time I drove one my only gripe was the 2.4L 4 cylinder was a dog, acceleration was awful but guess thats to be expected its not the v6 after all. The camry's 2.4L engine just seemed a little more responsive when you step on it. Oh and the accord should have power driver seat standard

Just my 0.02 now I'll wait for nikki to chime in

Camrys are ghey.......plus handling IMO isn't very responsive.....and not nearly the aftermarket that the Accord has.

ACCORD.

The factory PCM. The engine probbably has more power than 260/280, the PCM cuts down the power right before it shifts gears so the shift is more smooth and to save the transmission, this and the weight increase from what I understand made the car slower than before.

It looks nice, for some reason it hasn't grown on me to the point to where I like the looks of the newer one better, added to that there is no 2 door version. I had a 2000 GTP coupe.

Yeah, no 2 doors available really sucks. I guess they were thinking the GTO would fill that gap?

Is that the same 2.4 that would be in a 2004 CRV? I drove one of those a lot, its not too bad for a 4 banger in a small suv.

I thought the 2.4's in those cars had VTEC or VVT-i to help in top end, if their as much as a dog as they sound then our 2.4 should be pretty comparable right? Not to start racing stories or anything, more of a power comparison- I used to think i wouldnt wanna go up against an accord or camry but come to think of it, all the 4 cyl's have around 150-160 hp right?

I knew about the V6's, just not the fours- GA= 3.4 off-the-line torque Accord= 3.0 VTEC
240 HP rules top end

another reason why i was happy to hear about the 2.4 VVT ecotec with 170 hp for the G^ and solstice IIRC

People that would pick a GP (non GTP) over either of those cars are nuts, toyota or honda are more reliable and much better resale value

Read my first post I said if I had to pick a family sedan...most people dont mod family sedans to lug the kids around.

Just to clarify, GTP.

I would never buy a 4cyl Camry no matter auto or 5-speed. Weaker than weakness itself. An Accord 4cyl 5-speed is not too bad.

I'd spend the extra few K and get the V6, the best option between the 2 IMHO is the Camry SE V6... if you had included the SE.

Actually I thought the 4 cyl camry engine was more responsive, the accord was laggy horrible acceleration once it was moving it wasnt bad but from a stand still it sucked
