First Thousand Pontiac Solstices Ordered in Minutes
Friday April 15, 6:20 pm ET
- Exclusive First Orders Received from Customers in 47 States

DETROIT, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- One thousand lucky driving enthusiasts are looking forward to receiving an exclusive version of the new Pontiac Solstice roadster after being first in line to participate in a special promotion announced on Thursday night's episode of NBC's The Apprentice. Only 41 minutes were required to sell out of the specially-badged "First 1,000" Solstices.

"With the great response we've seen to the design and performance features being offered in our new Pontiacs, we were expecting many customers to jump at the chance to order one of the first Solstices," said John Larson, general manager of Buick-Pontiac-GMC. "But we were thrilled that we achieved such amazing results so quickly."

Orders were received from more than 650 dealers in 47 states. Additionally, more than 4,000 customers have asked to be placed on the wait list for one of the exclusive vehicles.

haha...there was a Solstice Pre-Order thing on Ebay a few days ago...Buy It Now price was like $50,000!

I'd rather have the Saturn Sky personally

I saw one on the road the other day on Rt. 40 in Delaware. It was silver and the top was off. Was an Old grey haired guy driving it. Had the good ole blue Michigan tags on it too. It didnt look half bad to me. The front end was a little goofy looking but the rest of it looked pretty sharp.

Where are these things being built. I heard they were going to be built at the Wilmington DE plant, where the Saturns used to be. Any info on this?

well of course the dealers ordered them up fast, they can make more $ selling them... sorta like how hard it was to obtain a 94 impalla ss...

Are you focking high? I could sell the RX7, but that and still have money left over. If I ever sell the RX7 it will be for a big house or to buy a Vette/new Supra if any/new RX7 if any for a summer car.

Dealer's could not order them for themselves. You had to go to the Pontiac site to get an order number thingy, then go to the dealership and order the specific car. They would have to make up an entire person, registration, etc. etc.

oh 10-4 big daddy, i read it as dealers got them then sold them, thats actually pretty cool then that the dealers wont get to sell them for that sick up'd price, but im sure a few of those solstices are gonna wind up at dealers...

my gf is really liking the car, i still wanna see one in person tho

Pontiac/GM also put out a mandate that if stealerships marked up the '05 GTO and Solstice that they would be CUT OFF.

'05 GTO ordering has closed, they are selling for normal price negotiations of a regular vehicle, and there will be less than 12,000 units (especially with the batch destroyed in the train wreck.

i guess im too used to seeing cars sell for a lot more then they are worth... thats excellent that gm is taking those steps to keep the price regulated...

how many 05 gto's were on that train?

Lets hope that this small momentum can grow and the demand won't die out really fast. GM needs this car to continue to sell well, not be just a one-time blow out.
