WS9 = Formula
WS4 = TA
WS6 = performance package

IIRC. Could be wrong though.

Never heard of a WS.9, also that is not a Formula, it's a Trans Am, the Formula says Firebird above the Phoenix, not Trans Am. Also you can tell by the lower rear fascia, the exhaust grooves are a Trans Am thing. I personally think it looks like ****, the WS.6 is a badge, that is a sticker....

Whats the difference with all the trim levels on that car anyway? Ive been wondering but couldnt tell the difference, somebody explain please... i know the chevy camaro just comes as a base with v-6, and the LS1 is the z28 then the model from SLP with 325 HP is the SS

now whats that with pontiac, is the firebird and trans am two different cars? the v-6 T/A is just that, and the LS1 is the firehawk, and the WS-6 is the 325 HP SLP version right? so whats the firebird formula or firebird firehawk, thats a LS1 also but whats the diff. between that and the Trans Am, same car right?! i just want one really bad too... haha

OK I typed a message, but I deleted it, last night (before I saw this thread) I found the specifications at LS1Tech.com, I tried to find them this morning before I posted, but I couldn't, here it is, this should give you a good idea of the differences....

http://www.ls1tech.com/forums/showpo...83&postcount=5

I do not believe the Firehawk was included in this list because it is not a model, it is an aftermarket model by SLP, kind of like that Grand Prix GTX that they made.... Actually the WS6 was made by ASC but thats another story.

Here is another good link for questions about LS1's, LS1Tech's SuperFAQ

All cars started out as a Firebird since 1969 when the Trans Am was introduced. The WS-6 package was originally 15x8" wheels vs the 15x7 along with upgraded suspension, brakes and so on. It evolved to a more powerful product meaning with the functional Ram-Air hood, more powerful engines and so on.

But even 4th gen Trans Am's are firebirds. The optional Formual package was the next step up in which case you can go to the Firebird Formula WS-6 which was rare to build this way. Or you could go Firebird, Trans Am option, followed by the WS-6 option which was the more common route. The last setup was the Firebird, with the Trans Am option with the Firehawk package installed by SLP for a 345 HP ride with LS6 heads, intake and so on. I know this because we have owned about a dozen TA's and I have had a few of my own.

K2737 was about dead on when he said
WS9 = Formula
WS4 = TA
WS6 = performance package

Firebird
Firebird Formula
Firebird Formula WS-6
Firebird Trans Am
Firebird Trans Am WS-6
Firebird Firehawk

Just to add a little extra that the dude above might not realize for sure......

Formulas are V-8s that look like plain Firebirds basically with some different badges and dual exhuast. TAs have all the ground effects standard, grooves in the back for the exhaust (as mentioned earilier), forglights standard and so on. Although in the middle 90s I have seen some v6 formulas, which just seems retarted to me (not sure if that coninued till 02 or not). Firebirds are the base with v6 as standard. v-8 is standard on all TAs and up. There is no such thing as a v-6 TA (with the exception of the 89 turbo v6)!! And most ppl just call them Trans-Ams at that level and not firebird TAs although technically they are still firebirds.

im refering to last gen. firebird / trans am:

i thought the cars with the "Firebird" badges on the side of the car, on the doors were all v-6's stock. and the ones with the "Trans Am" was the v-8. I didnt think that they made the formulas in the last gen. So your saying that the cars with the "Firebird" lettering could be either a v-6 base model or a v-8 formula?

Nope, I have a 4th(last) gen Firebird Formula, badge says Formula, this is from one of my previous posts....

edit: All V-6's say Firebird, All LS1's say Firehawk, or Trans Am, or Formula on the doors

yeah it does actually say Formula on those models. Firebird is v-6 stock for sure. I was totally wrong about any v-6 formulas, they are all v-8s! Just another tid bit of trivia in 1994 there was a TA and TA GT. The Trans Am and Trans Am GT models differentiated by a raised spoiler on the GT model, but merged back to just TA in 1995.
