Pontiac Grand Prix: GXP

So, I just got off my test drive..... Anyone want a Trailblazer for a year? =)

God damn that was fun. 303HP out of a 5.3L V8. The thing drove heavy like all Grand Prix's do, but at 97 it felt like 45. Tons of room in the bay for any aftermarket parts, nice exhaust tone, but the interior plastics leave some to be desired....

$27,xxx GMS

Some cars such as Nissan and Acura are getting up there in the HP and Torque range. Yet nobody even thinks of torque steer when it comes to a foreign company. Why?

GM is doing nothing wrong with this car. Its a great car for the money with loads of power.

HP doesn't cause torque steer. if i'm wrong, correct me.

what car does honda/acura make that has alot of torque that's FWD?

when i think of the altima se-r, or the maxima, i think it would have alot of torque steer as well.

That's a trick question. They don't make anything with a lot of torque!

Weavis...DO NOT BUY THIS CAR!! Trust me, my fiance has a '04 CompG and I can't wait for the focker to spontaneously combust. If you buy this car....hopefully you have a good chunk to put down, or you truly truly truly...did I say truly....know you will want this car for the next 5 years of your life.

3.5 more years with my future wife's orange, depreciating cheesebox. By that time it'll have 100k miles and be ready to blow...YAH!!

That's why I buy GM cars used but with warranty. Let some fool pay for it and drive it around the block a few times, then I pick it up for half of what they paid.

I have a feeling the GXP will hold more value than your girls GTP. Not much more.. but more.

turns right unless i say otherwise under hard acceleration, and thus I could imagine how severe it would be in a 350 lb/ft torque FWD v8 powered car. I ask how bad it was to see if GM engineered anything to combat the problem. An LSD would be a near solution, yeah?

Mine never did that.

A design with 50/50 halfshafts with the engine mounted with the crank facing the radiator and LSD. That would help.

Torque steer is somewhat managed, but is still noticable. Going around a corner and flooring it towards the end is where the problem arises. It doesn't go where you want it to go.

The power was nice, but I was still driving a GP with what I think is one of the worst interiors i've sat in for a high priced car. One of the worst. Design is terrible.

Sorry for the late responses.....

I will mostlikly be waiting until next year this time, so that I will not enter a new lease with a loss from this one.

I will not be "buying" a vehicle anytime in the near future. I just put more miles on the car than I can afford to pay for it in the short term. That and with my dad needing to buy/lease a new car every-other year (per his GM contract) it's just better for me to lease.

The car was a lot of fun as I said. I still think they couldn't have been more cheap on the dash plastics, the Cobalts plastic is nicer.

I'll be sure to TiVo the 12th's C&D, thank you Alex for the heads-up. I'll be in Toronto for a wedding Friday thru Sunday.

I have pics up.... http://www.jweavis.com/photogallery/...s.php?album=17

Becuase the Japanese would NEVER let a platform live for almost a decade with just minor changes. As the japanese companies have increased the power in their vehicles they have also designed new structures to deal with it. I drove a GXP and was actually surprised by how little torque steer there was. Not bad for 300 HP actually. The interior is a dissapointment as stated by many above.

Maxima. Altima. Civic. Camry. Corrola. Should I keep going? Nearly a decade on all of those with minor changes.

Uhm....what?! You're telling me the new Maxima, Altima, Camry, and Corolla are the same as they were 10 years ago, let alone 3 years ago?

No. Read closer.

He said "Japanese would NEVER let a platform live for almost a decade with just minor changes"

Maxima got minor changes from 1995-2003. Altima stay nearly the same fron 1993 to 2001. That's "almost a decade with just minor changes"

Toyota Camry and K-roller same deal different years etc...

Almost EVERY car company lets a good selling platform alone for nearly a decade with only minor changes.
