Nissan Frontier

Anyone have one or know anyone who does? I am going to purchase one in the next month or so after I sell the GA. Any problems with them? I have heard of the transmissions going around 115,000 miles or so. Xterras are the same thing so if anyone has them as well any info would be great...

New or used? I'd stay away from the pre 2005 Frontiers, just an inferior truck in every way. Now the new ones are a truck I'd get if I needed one.

Why is it an inferior truck? I have an 02 and it hasn't had any problems, plus it waxes Tacomas.

^ Poor engine choices (execpt for the SC), very cheap interior, and a chassis that dates back over 15 years would keep it off my list of a used little truck. I'd go with a Dakota if I was looking for one. I would probably take a Frontier over a same age Tacoma though.

Yea I know 2 people that have them, one of them with the s/c. The interior isnt the best but its a f'en truck not a lexus you dont buy them for luxury interior and comfort. If I were in the market for a small truck it would be between this and a dakota probably. You'd get better info on a nissan board though

not really, because they'd all be fanboys of it.

My coworker has one, I think it is an '03. I'm not impressed with it. Back seats are worthless unless for storage and the floor of the interior is a lounge chair. Your legs go flat out practically instead of being in a normal seated position. Bed isn't that big, interior is cheap.

^ the 4.0 VQ engine is way better than the old supercharged engine, go drive an '05 and the SC will feel weak.

I had an '01 Xterra. I definately didn't buy it for the comfort level. The interior was functional first. The 2 problems I had with it were: 1) HORRIBLE gas milage, even for a V6, if you had to drive faster than 55, the RPM's were at about 3500. (which is 3/4 of my commute). and 2) There was no highway power for hills. If there was any kind of inclineand you were driving faster than 45, you HAD to downshift (I had the 5 speed).

The main reason I got rid of it though was because of the lease. I HATE LEASES!!! Can't think of a bigger waste of money, other than renting a house.

If I were you, definately go with one of the newer ones (05 or newer), or go with a Dakota. You can get a V8 for fairly cheap - better power, same price.

my $.02

why not lease....esp if you go throught cars like every ...say....3-4 years...financing doesnt make any better sense if your not keeping the car in the long run

^^ Nothing wrong with a lease if you keep the mileage down, you have to keep the car for a long long time to get the true benefits of owning. Who wants to be driving an old car? Just my opinion.

You hated the gas mileage but then you recommend a v8 dakota My buddy has a dakota it gets about 14mpg at best but no one buys a truck if they're concerned with gas mileage.

Titan! I hate trucks but that thing makes me want one.

As for the Xterra, make sure she gets the SC one. I went without and it was a dog.....

I was just ****ed at the fact that for an average V6 I had no power, and was dogging it on the gas milage. It would have been better if I had either one, the gas milage or the power. The Xterra had neither. The Dakota at least had the horses.

If I'm going to waste my money on the gas, I want to at least be able to go somewhere with it.

The dakota I had (4.7 V8) was actually EXCELLENT on gas. I was averaging like 17mpg just about every time I filled up and calculated it. Those were all city miles too because I only had it on the highway once (last weekend). The Trailblazer I just bought actually seems to be much worse. I still like it though!

Anyways, I think a used Dakota is about the best value out there for a small pickup. The V8 in those actually gets better mileage than the V6 because it's not working as hard to move. It also had great pick up
