I got my Alero back today from the dealership. I took it in when I saw coolant seeping from the lower intake. I only had 1 month or 750 miles left on the warranty so I was lucky. They replaced the lower intake gasket and the lower intake manifold. Even though I never saw any signs of antifreeze in the oil, they said there was some so they also did an oil change and flushed and filled the coolant. Grand total... $0. God I love warranties!
Any ideas why they replaced the lower intake manifold too? Has anyone else had theirs replaced during the gasket replacement? Of course I'm not complaining about it...it was FREE! ![]() |

Likely due to material degredation. Some lower intake manifolds are slightly more porous than others due to the defects of casting. Whenever your LIM gaskets start leaking some air and dirt is allowed into the cooling system which only aggrivates and erodes at the manifold.
