all I gotta say is its a 98 Dodge with almost 100k on it. My cousin blew the motor in his 2000 when it had around 50k. So just be careful. I dont know too much about them, but from what Ive heard from people I know they can be suspect at best.

The transmisions scare me. I was told that cummins started building the trannies in 98. I was searching the dodge forums and havent found any proof of it.
I checked it out today. Its sunday and no one was there to talk to. I dont know if its the 318 or the 360. My best freind has the exact same truck and has 120K+ on it and it runs the same it did when he bought it knew. He also has a 4inch suspension lift, 3 inch body lift and 38" all terains, no cat and no muffler. He has put this truck through hell and has no problems and has had no problems. I dont know if his is just a freak though.
This truck is the best price that i can find within 75 miles of my house. Most of the Dodge 1500 SLT quad cab 4X4's that are under $10K have 140K+ miles on them. Its phuckin sad.

Looks like the trannies are like ours are. Some people change a tail light bulb and blow their trannies and others tow daily and have 180K+ miles on them and have had no problems at all. Dodge truck forums suck, either that or i havent found the best one yet, Ive been reading for hours.

Its actually the best deal i can find on these trucks. I want a truck so i can tow when i need to and hual when i need to. My GA is getting garaged and isnt driven much right now so i need a vehicle for the winter also. What better choice than a truck. I dont want one that is new/newer becuase i dont want to have to worry about scratches/dings when they happen and always do when using a truck for what its meant for. I am going over there tomorrow after i get out of work to test drive it and see if there is any service records. If i like it enough i will offer him 8K. If he dont take my offer then i walk.

the tranny's and rear end's suck but the engines are strong. my father has a van with the 360 in it and hes had the tranny rebuilt like 3 times and the rear end about the same.

Upon further searching the guys that dont have a **** kit and tranny cooler tend to blow there trannies. I dont know if this truck has these things or not, i forgot to look. They also have problems with intake gaskets, looks like GA's arent the only ones. I dint see anyone with rear end problems though.

I hope you are paying cash for it. Can be a bit difficult to get financed on something 7 years old and high miles. As long as the truck wasn't beat to hell then it should be ok. I would try to get them down a bit on the price tho. Also, take it to a mechanic to get checked out. There might be a reason why it is cheaper than all the rest. GL

I will get approved for it. I can pretty much get approved for just about anything. I have litterally perfect credit. If i get serious to buy it and he will let it go for 8K$ i will have it checked out. The mileage really isnt that bad for a truck.

Don't get a Dodge. I know 2 people with them and they've had numerous problems. At that mileage I wouldn't expect anything different. Go find yourself a nice silverado.

I should have been more clear. Most lenders don't like high mileage. In the real world that really isn't that bad tho.

High mileage? Its a truck people 100k on a truck is weaksause. Thats a great deal but I would probably pass unless you can get them to agree that you can have the trans checked out by a 3rd party mechanic. Personally I would look for a F-150

Chevy silverado QC 1500 Z-71 with 120K they ussually sell for $12,999-$13,999
Ford F-150 QC with 120K they ussually sell for $9,999-$10,999
Dodge 1500 QC with 120K they ussually sell for $8,999-$9,999

Im not buying a car people. Trucks are a whole nother world of vehicle. 90k on the clock is weaksuase. I looked at a 97 Z-71 with 440K miles, still ran fine.

This truck has a 6 month warranty which is also the best i can find.
