NW Boost Bro is down:(

Well my engine has major engine noise coming from it. Knocking. Took it to the dealership and they said I had major engine damage and that they wanted to order a new motor. I had heard that clicking noise before and it has been getting constantly worse. Engine sounded like a lawn mower. ^%^%$^#% thing. car only had 45000 km on it. I have the EM supercharger apoc cai, 62 mm TB, S7S healers and borla exhaust. I just don't understand how an engine can go bad like that. well I was pretty hard on it before. I swear that clicking noise was there when I bought the car and just getting worse over time. well I am going to get the engine replaced with a used one and probably just sell the car. I can't afford it anymore anyways. I want to sell as is. I was trying to drive across canada from vancouver to ontario and tunrned back at kamloops cuz of the noise and other reasons. I'm glad i did. I always thought something was wrong with my car and it wasn't as fast as it should have been. Dealership said I needed a new engine for $7000 canadian. screw that!!

maybe just my piston rings are gone. I was having alot of problems with detonation with the 2.5" pulley before i shortened the spark plug gap. I mean there is nothing wrong with the exhaust. normal. no black smoke. just that annoying loud knock

How much tuning did you do on it? I didn't see you list then when talking about your mods. Boost plus stock PCM = bad idea!

Lack of fueling and spark control under boost would probably lead to some problems. Also, why would keep driving on a motor that you were hearing internal noise that wasn't normal from?

I said i swear not forsure. noise only got real bad lately. i think i heard it a yr ago and asked my dad about it who works at gm. he said it was just timing belt or something.
well it got annoying lately and even asked my roommate in the car if it was there before. he said no. i did my car maintenance at the dealership and u would think that they would beable to fix it. the car is not as nearly as modded as others on here. no port and polish or internals done on the engine at all.. my gooddamned dad said the noise was normal.

... You don't have a "timing belt". Perhaps it was the valve train noise he was referring to when the car is first started.

What exactly did the dealership say is wrong with it? Why not get a junkyard engine, and rebuild?

Sorry to hear a Boost Bro is down. These GA's were not designed for the level of performance that we have, without some reinforcement on the internals. But, that won't prevent me from pushing the limits.

Bad knock as in how? Knocking per each revolution of the crank (fast), or every other revolution?

A knock can come from nearly anywhere. Can be caused by a cracked flywheel, loose torque converter, bad timing chain, the valve train, or... crank/connecting rods. If you rely on the word of others, you want to find out _exactly_ what they feel is wrong. Ultimately, it will be you paying for it in the end...

I know you mentioned you had the Powrtuner, out of curiousity, what changes have you made? Did you get the PowrTuner recently? Hopefully it was a reduction in the stock timing Perhaps it was a bit too late.

Did you post on the DHP forum? Open a ticket with DHP? Submit a ticket in the BugTracker?

While that won't fix the problem now, I feel now would be an excellent time to buy a junkyard engine, or rebuild the current if:

-You have a garage
-Tools
-Buy an account at alldatadiy.com (it is pretty cheap)

Not only for the sake of bringing the car back to life, but to learn a lot more in the process so you are not handed a $7000(cdn) bill in the future

I don't believe you are going to have much luck selling it in it's current condition...

hmm, 2.6 pulley....daaaaam. That would have done it, detonation wonderland on stock tune and no intercooler.

Basically, once I established that there was no tuning to speak of, I had the cause of death determined. My guess are there are some very ugly combustion chambers inside that poor thing, along with a plethora of other problems.
