they said "tints"

second, this is complete BS. Have any cops been shot through darked out windows recently? NO! Second of all, why should other states be allowed to have tinted windows because of the sun? we have a LOT of sun here in michigan in the summer, probably just as much as texas.
If a cop pulls me over and is nervous about my windows, i will happily roll down all my windows and turn on my interior lights so he can see me. This is just another BS way for the county to get money from its citizens. It bings up the question of why they are cracking down so harshly on stupid things like tinted windows instead of cracking down on vandalism and crime in our cities.

I for one am emailing those senators with my thoughts on it- thanks for the list hodge.

Senator,

As a citizen of this State, I write to you to represent me and my views...I mean, that's what you're there for, right? That's why we voted to put you where you are. I cannot express the emotions I feel about this bill in words that are appropriate for this letter. I feel like it is just legistlation that leads to a greater loss for the state than it could ever possibly gain. I am, of course, talking about the bill put forward by Senator Cherry...the "tint bill". Jail time for window tint? Is she serious? I know of 50 cars right off the top of my head with tinted rear windows...most of which came with the tint from the DEALER. I believe this legislation is a slap in the face to anyone who can realize what it is - another useless law with no real purpose that wastes tax dollars that could go to better things like education and helping the economy grow. We, as a state, DO NOT need to be concerning ourselves with such trivial issues like window tint...we are facing serious problems that need serious legislation to be mended. Wasting time and money passing this bill into law and then enforcing it, crowding up our already crowded jails, is just a rediculous waste of taxpayer money. So please, senator, please vote no to this bill when it comes up. Michigan cannot afford to waste any more time and money, especially not on this bill. Thank you,

YOUR CITY, MI
Thats a letter someone else wrote, he had a good idea, everyone e-mail it to all the senators and CC to it to the lady in Oakland. If we get enough people to e-mail it in. All set to go, they shouldn't back it. I don't see how it would work, since she intends to ban all window tint, so you factory tint would now become illegal, like thats happening.

Have you ever had a cop and his partner walk up to ur car with his gun drawn, because he cant see what your doin on the inside. Most dealership cars are around 20 percent tinted in the back which isnt much. Just go to ur eye doctor and tell him you have been gettin headaches when u drive to work in the daylight, you wear sunglasses and it still doesnt help. see if he will write you a LEGAL perscription for ur front windows to be tinted. Then the police cant say crap. I know it happend to me. State police like to pull u over for any reason.

Well, you have to get a enodorsement from the Secretary of State now to make it legal. It will be printed on your license and if you are caught driving a vehicle without tint, you lose your endorsement for ever. They are really starting to get really bitching about the whole thing right now. I have just be driving with my windows down or at least one of them down so it doesn't look as dark.

Yea, they want to make it a thing on your license like corrective lenses and things like that. But if you are caught without, you can't get that endorsement back. Its really a messed up system, they are making a big deal about something thats not. Specially if they want no tint on the rear windows too since they come up from behind the car

Update--

Dear Mr. Hodge:

Thank you for contacting our office regarding Senate Bill 786 which would increase the penalty for driving vehicle with a window tint or film in excess of that allowed by current law. Citizen input is vital to the legislative process, and I applaud your active participation on this important matter.

This past September, a State Senator introduced the legislation that would place a greater penalty on those who violate window tint laws. Specifically, Senator Deb Cherry has proposed in her bill that those violations would be punishable with up to 90 days in jail and up to a $500 dollar fine. Senate Bill 786 was sent to the Senate Transportation Committee for review. While I do not sit on the Transportation Committee, I did speak with the chairman of the committee who advised me that the bill would not be considered by the committee in the near future. Moreover, if it does move to the Senate for future consideration, I will actively oppose its passage as I do not believe it reflects the views of my constituency and the citizens of this state. I appreciate your input and assure you that I will take your concerns into due consideration should it come before me in the Senate.

Again, thank you for contacting our office. Please do not hesitate to call upon me again with any future questions or concerns relating to matters of state government.

Sincerely,

Michael D. Bishop
Assistant Majority Leader
State Senator, 12th District

Mike Bishop is a great guy, I've met him in person and hes talked at my school, I talked to him personally on this issue and I dought it's going to be passed in the near future. Thanks for everyone who actually emailed. Vote for Mike Bishop at the next election.
