Best MP3/CD for $$

Well I have around $200 to spend on a MP3/CD player. I was thinking of this JVC http://www.cardomain.com/item/JVCKDLH810
But will i need the mounting kit? And i need a player with red illumination to match my car interior, thanks

Sony CDXF5710 can be had for about $180, and lights up red. Doesn't seem too bad. Keep in mind that if you have Monsoon, you're going to have to change a lot more than just your HU.

Side note: go to www.best-buy.com. It's really similar to www.bestbuy.com, but... well, you'll see.

Red illumination is really hard to find. Sure you can go with Sony (although I'd advise against it due to the poor quality of their car audio) or that JVC unit (I've had horrible experience with JVC in the past) I think it depends on what you're looking for. I'd highly recommend an Alpine (some of them can change button colors to red) or my personal favorite, Pioneer. What's more important to you, red illumination or sound quality? If you want sound quality, I'd be looking at Alpine or Pioneer units (both can be cheap and MP3 capable) but it's hard to find red illumination. If you just want something pretty with red, Sony's got it.

There ya go, sounds good and looks just as good. The 9847 might be a little high in your price range, but you would not be disappointed.

Meh, just get something with blue lighting, change your gauges and interior lights to blue. I'm 3/4 of the way there, I'm excited for the final outcome.

like chris i prefer pioneer. ive had a DEH-P3500 for several years now, and the only problem i have with it is that it doesnt play mp3's, but thats what you get with some older models. definitely make sure that whatever you get has a removable faceplate for security purposes as well as your own peace of mind.

matt, ive been looking at the apoc needle light things, now if iirc you can only use the red glow kit on 99+ ga's, but is there a way to use the other kits as well to your knowledge? (cause blue with red needles isnt exactly my style )

Pioneer for teh win. Been using them for 5 years now.

AJ, I don't know about the needles. I don't have my gauges on yet (trying to find a way to make them... not white), so I'm doing it one step at a time. If you do find something about making the needles a different color before I do, please let me know. I'd like to change them as well.

Yea. That's going to be a project and a half. My thoughts right now is trying to use a little bit of the spray tint I used on my tails, and just try to make them a little darker. Maybe try to find a way to clean up where the light shines thru, who knows. It'll be fun to do. Different, that's for sure.

Meh, I'd feel bad charging for anything like that. Oh well. Back to CD players. I'm going to plug Pioneer one more time, cause they rock.

as will I, and i think they recently made a 6 cd changer that wires directly into the HU, which is nice since alot of companies have the FM transmitter models, which are sketchy as hell. go with pioneer!

6-disc changer, eh? I must go look into this. I saw one at BB on Wednesday, got thinking about it, and if Pioneer makes one that plugs right in, I might have to get myself one.

im pretty sure i saw it when surfing their site awhile back, not sure if BB and CC have it in stock or not. im just thinking of maybe picking one up and upgrading to an mp3/cdplayer. that'd put a nicer bit of music at my fingertips. never gonna get an ipod (they is evuhl) or any other mp3 player. not worth it imo.

o, and pioneer rocks, yet again.

Yea, I'm going to stay away from a MP3 player right now. I'm trying to get something worked out to have my old laptop in my car as a MP3/movie player. It'd be slightly ghetto-rigged, but still kinda cool.

After looking at that link, I remember seeing those too.

WTF... they list the 6 disc and 12 disc as having the same dimensions, but I'm 90% sure they aren't the same...
