Eh, I've got quite the challenge ahead of me...

Somehow I've gotta find a way to build this box in the two separate pieces, and then squeeze them in. Anyone have any ideas/tips? I might have to build part of the enclosure inside of the trunk.

well, id say if you know it'll fit from your measurements, think about building alot of it inside of there rather than outside then trying to squeeze it in.

Squeezing is alot easier than building inside though. Building inside of the trunk is one major PITA.

I'm going to make a cardboard mockup of this within the week and play around with it. If it comes down to it, I'll remove the middle boards between the two enclosures and use a 3" wide board to seal up the joint between the boxes.

Unless it just drops in, I'm going to have quite the experience.

I'd build both outside the car, put one in then put in the subs, and slide in in place. Then take the other one, put in the trunk, put in the subs, and slide that into place. I say leave the subs out so that they're not crazy heavy. I really want to see this when it's done. What 8's are you going with?

There is no way to leave the 8's out until it is done considering they are all downfiring (for stealth and for the wife's wanting me to keep the trunk semi-usable).

I'm sticking with my current 8's, Elemental Designs 9kv.2's. They are the same subs that were in my old setup:

Well, when I posted awhile back, I was going to do 4 individual fiberglass enclosures each holding two subwoofers. However, I decided that sealed wasn't going to be loud enough, and I can't wait until next spring to finish the enclosures up.

I'm going to hopefully find some 1/4" cardboard leftover at work. That stuff should hold it's shape pretty well hopefully.

Just out of curiosity, but are you doing this for show purposes, sound quality, both? Just seems to wasteful and pointless to me, but that's my opinion.

Overkill is a good pal of mine. We tend to hang out anywhere I go.

It is going to sound good. Once a week I get that urge to rattle my skull for awhile. I don't plan on doing any show stuff because I have a pretty much stock car (going to stay that way) on the outside. Plus, I've got 8 8's sitting under my bed waiting for a home, and if I'm going to make them one, I'm going to do it right (ported).

I'll have about 10" above the enclosure to stick a duffle bag, pillow, guitar, laptop, or whatever else I'd ever take on a trip on a flat surface without 8 subwoofers in the way. That is what I meant by usable

Good luck. I hope it turns out good for ya. I love the idea of stuffing as many 8's as you can into your set-up as you can.

Just one question.... whats the mounting depth on those subs? I ask because of where you show the ports. The inside height of the box is 9"....that dosen't leave much room to slide a 4" round port past the subs. Where you show the ports now...they will run smack dab into the side of the subs. Even if you move them all the way down to the bottom of the box it's gonna be a tight fit.
You might also want to check on what youre going to tune it to so that you can get an idea of how long the port is going to be. Since you have 2 4" rounds in each chamber...that means they are going to be longer than a single 4" round. You might want to check this out before you start building.
