VW Golf News: GTis have arrived!

This flew under my radar. Nevertheless, it appears the new GTis have arrived and are being prepped for delivery.

As I said on this forum some time back, I saw a young guy, probably a college guy driving one of these around campus from DEC. 2004 to April 2005. It had to be preproduction because the regular Golf wasn't even released yet. Hell, the new Jetta wasn't out yet either in Dec. of '04 so I was shocked to see this rolling around. It was electric blue and had projector HID headlamps. The guy must have been testing the car.

This car should have been on sale a long time ago. Why the hell did it take so long to get here, they have been on sale in Europe for 2 years! I bet they price it waaaay too high. Still a decent looking car though, probably fun to drive with the A3 motor and avalible DSG transmission.

The ONLY VW worth 2 craps is the GTi, hatchbacks are the greatest!

100,000x better than a Civic Si, if it wasn't for the $30,000+ price tag and the plad seats, I'd think about it.

I disagree, the transmission and extra torque are all this car has on the Si. For about 5+ grand more it's not worth it at all.

Well, the new Si did remove "the appandage" (shifter) sticking out of the dash put in a center armrest to match those features to the GTi, still, forced induction vs. NA and no torque. Hatchback vs. coupe. I like the VW better than the Si, even if the Si looks slightly better.

VW GTi starts @ $20,340 (suprised me) Civic Si starts @ $19,990. I think the extra $350 is worth it.

The car looks like a kid's toy. Not to mention the seats look like the inside of my wife's purse. And as Rob said, nothing quite like flat black plastic to class up a car.

Seriously, there's gotta be more than one design for the seats. Who made the call to let that one get out?

Perhaps the Aztec guy moved to VW now. He's done with Honda and Toyota (Element, previous gen Civic, Echo, that new Toyota SUV ugly thing).

VW is no where near as reliable as a honda, plus when you need stock parts dealerships think they can charge a premium b/c its german
