Bandpass Box, a Good Idea???

...So I'm looking for a nice box to hold my subs (two 12") I really like the look of BandPass boxes, I love the plexiglass viewing windows, and the lighting mods you could do are almost endless.

So, If I'm going to get two Boston G2 subs, would this bandpass box be okay for them? Or should I go with something else???

Link

thanks,

Throw them in a pre-fab sealed 2 cube box with some plexi or search ebay for a nice fiberglass box. Stay away from the bandbass your going to lose the clean sound out of those subs. This is a good box i just found on ebay for you. It would really set off your trunk and make it show worthy. You could mount some neons on the rear deck and it would shine off the paint and look sexy.

I went with a custom built ported box made to the sub's specs. The ported box gives you the best of both worlds, the efficiency and tight bass from a sealed box and a a bit of the thump from a bandpass. Not the prettiest box you'll see, but damn if it doesn't sound great, so much of the box is responsible for the sound of your sub. No matter what enclosure you get, I would recommend a custom box for your subs. Here's a pic of mine

You should sink that JL into your spare tire well and port it. That would be a badass setup and save you alot of trunk space.

the way a bandpass box works is that it outputs a limited frequency band, one in which is tuned with the specs of the box. bandpass boxes are the most detailed boxes (or should be) built EXACTLY to thge manufacturers specs. if not built exactly right, they will have either a crappy output or no output. if done right, they are EXTREMELY loud and will knock your socks off, but will not produce both deep bass (lower frequency band) and punchy bass (higher frequency band).

prebuilt generic bandpass boxes are good for one thing...looks. they all sound like poop unless you luck out with it being built exactly to specs for your subs (1/1,000,000,000,000 chance)

That's the theory I had on the idea... That all Bandpass Boxes are meant to impress, and built with form before function, which sucks.

Thats a pretty big box...I'm not sure if the tire well would have enough volume.

You would have to use the tire well and a box on top of that which would be wide and thin.

It's probably just easier to keep it the way it is, not that I use my trunk anyway, and that box cost a lotto build , but I appreciate the suggestions
