February 14th
Leftlanenews.com

2007 Saturn Outlook Spied

"The Outlook is built on GM's Lambda platform, which also underpins the 2007 Buick Enclave and GMC Acadia. The car is expected to be available in late 2006. The 2008 GMC Acadia will be the last Lambda-platform vehicle to hit production. See Saturn's official teaser image along with the new spy shots after the jump…"

Gotta wait to see better pics before I judge it. I saw spy shots of that same GMC SUV though, and the interior looked outstanding.

Cheers & Gears is reporting that the product may be shelved:

Quote:
We’ve blown the scoop on the GMT900 before anybody else. We had the next Saturn ION before GM decided to cancel it. We also told you that the Camaro was a “go” long before anybody in the industry knew of a Camaro concept. Once again, we bring you exclusive news on a very important, prominent piece of GM’s comeback plan.

The 200X Saturn Outlook.

Industry sources have indicated to Cheers & Gears that this Lambda based vehicle may be under going a severe “rethinking” process by GM North America that may result in its cancellation in just a few short weeks. With the vehicle less than four months away from a production debut, and less than 30 days away from it’s New York Auto Show debut this late delay of the Saturn Outlook has many of us within C&G scratching our heads.

It’s no secret that the GMX 002 Saturn ION that wowed C&G members & members of other web-sites alike has been cancelled for the more favorable Opel Astra this news about the Outlook is troubling.

Considering GM has publicly stated cross over vehicles are the bread and butter of the automobile landscape, hearing of such a delay and potential cancellation for a seemingly successful product such as the Outlook seems even more off the wall.

Is this a sign of one Jerry Yorks “cut throat” mentality now that he is on the GM Board of Directors or has General Motors decided that a third Lamda based vehicle one for Saturn is no longer necessary?

What We Say: GM would be better off “rethinking” the forthcoming Pontiac G5 rebadge and not an all new vehicle such as the Saturn Outlook.

The Equinox/Torrent are clones of the current VUE. This car was supposed to be a Chrysler Pacifica fighter on an all new platform. This car seems a much better fit in Saturn's line than the GMC variation does in GMC's line.

It appears that the above editorial is false. The outlook has been delayed two months though.

Not bad looking at all, the interior looks like a high point for GM.

Well well well. So GM didn't decide to keep digging their own grave after all...

YAY!!! the window switches moved back to the doors. their setup on the equinox was hideous and makes me want to vomit everytime i drive one of those.

the interior looks really nice, almost toyota-esque (which is good for GM). i think GM is trying to revamp their limes and they keep outting out these new models to see what the public wants.

teh, trail blazer decorated like a saturn. Man why can't GM bring out more car concepts? I'm sick of Suv's.

Looks good. So this is on the Equinox platform? It's not the bigger Trailblazer/Envoy platform right? It looks huge!

^ Its an all-new unibody platform. There will be GMC (the first without an independent frame) and Buick variations.

I like it. Few parts of the interior look low-rent (wood, gear shift) and familar (center stack similar to Tahoe/Yukon), but overall, nice work GM.

Oh, almost forgot. I don't like how this vehicle appears from the side. It looks stretched which is strange because the Buick Enclave shares the same dimensions but doesn't give off that same vibe. Take a look:

The Enclave looks so nice!!! Beautiful design.

The Buick looks nice too, much sexier. Lose those gay portholes and it would be even better.
