Your thoughts

Ive been doing some reading on other forums site but i wanted to get everyones opnion. I kind of feel like i trust the people here. I have been thinking of getting a different car and have made it to two choices. 97-99 Saturn SC2, or SC1, or a 96-99 Cavi Z-24. The cavi is on the jbody so its like the sunfire so i guess a GT version of that would work. I want a "fun" car that gets really good gas mileage. Going to get the 5 speed this time too. What one would you pick? Thanks.

Between those 2 choices, I'd pick the Z-24

Same here except I'd be looking more at a Sunfire than a Cavalier. Just personal preference on looks.

ive seen a few saturns turn out really well, but i think for a fun car the z-24 is also your best route.

Im going with the Z also, Seem's to be More "Fun" Toys out on the market and a good Hp Number with those toy's, Reliable and Looks Good.

I havent seen to many Saturn's that have been Modded though. Hard to say.

Thats why i kind of like the saturn, its a sleeper. I ususally dont do any modding to cars except lights, and system. Though neither of the cars are slow..to me.

Z as everyone has said. I don't really like modded saturns. Remind me of boxy 1991 prix's. bleh.

and it has a lot of aftermarket being on the j-body platform.

Z24...mainly looks. But if I were you I'd take a look at some Foreign cars too. A Jetta or GTI, Toyota Celica (that would be sweet), maybe an older Prelude...just to name a few. I think all those cars would be a blast with more of an aftermarket than the Saturn or Cavi, and they'll be much more reliable as well.

Honestly, they're both a waste of money. But being older that's my view. Neither are quality, neither are fast, neither are fun to drive. Whenever I see one I think "person has a limited income and they are making due" or "that car is a piece of shlt".

Do you have car payments that you can't afford? I'm just not understanding the logic behind downgrading like that.

Take it from me.

The 2.4L engine in the Z-24/Sunfire GT doesn't get it.

It gets similar to my GA 3.4L V6 engine.

(My Mom has a '98 Sunfire GT.)

I had a buddy in high school with a 97 Jetta...that thing was a blast...and he still drives it with no problems...it's the only reason I mentioned it.

I just got a PM from a mod, the one who implied I was an internet pedophile in a post last week, telling me this post was borderline out of line.

to stay on topic though, dont' buy either of these, your GA is a better car.

Go for a 2000 Civic Si, or as previously mentioned, a Prelude, or maybe an Integra. All of those are more fun than your two pics. They may cost a few more bucks, but they are worth it.

To answer your question between the two I would go with the Cavi.

Thanks guys. I want to downgrade because of mpg. I get 20-24 and my freinds sc2 gets 33 consitantly *sp. My cars paid off, but i would really like a 2 door with a 5 speed. Just seems the grand am is no fun. I also hate passlock with a pasion. I want a new mac with a dual core, so if I could get something decent out of my car, though unlikely id use the money to get smaller car/ computer for school. Thanks for the input!
