Being a malibu owner I don't like it at all. The headlights are ok have not seen the tails. Maybe a headlight conversion is in order

...i'd like to see the tail end too... but they don't have pics of that yet... from what i can see though the car is pretty tastefully done... the only thing i'm unsure about is the odd attempt at a fender flare over the rear wheels....

The interior of that Malibu looks pretty nice. Very clean, almost European looking styling to it. I just can't get past the exterior which reminds me of every single Saturn and Civic on the road today. Bland.....

The SUV looks like someone smashed a Trailblazer in a compactor! It reminds me of a Micro Machine. They were replicas of real cars but because they were so small a lot of the details were exaggerated or misproportioned.

looks good

That car would look sweet with a good set of 18's, thats the thing that makes the car look odd. The pics we've seen has the low profile look to it and this pic doesn't.

I do have to say the interior look as good as some of the Lexus's I've looked at. Clean, incredibly upscale looking for a car below 25grand. If the car comes with a 220+ hp engine that thing will be sweet to drive.

I have one word for the front end: UGLY! This is the work of bob lutz? He let this design pass? The front end of the 2000+ looks far better than this. The interior, on the other hand is nicely done. It looks like it now has auto climate control, onstar, XM, steering wheel audio controls, and heated seats. But I guess a Navigation system is not offered. It should be since the vibe has one. Oh well. I wonder if the 2005 grand am will have these features.

Where is GM coming up with these steering wheel designs? They look so cheap. I know the steering wheel isn't a big deal to most people, but I'm noticing it more and more with these new cars/trucks that GM is putting out. (Grand Prix, Malibu, etc.)

...this is prolly pre-Lutz days... it usually takes a while to design a new car... i don't think he's been there long enough for this to have been started under his reign...

true that

Lutz hasn't been around long enough to oversee that stuff. The stuff he working on won't see day light till mid 2004 (GM performance divison, GTO, and that little Pontaic two seater roaster in 2005 and of course the next Corvette)

Plus he doesn't oversee every little thing that comes off the showroom floor, thats the responsiblty of other people in the company.

Slightly larger rims, slightly lower altitude, painted mirrors.

That is certainly an improvement.

Yeah, it looks worse than the new accord sedan's rear end.

Hey

Not as bad as the Honda Element! Leave it to Honda to make a car uglier than an Aztek.

Honda made the Element look a little better with the concept Studio E. But the element shouldn't have seen the light of day. Nor should this new malibu. Oh well.
