My newest adventure...Mini-wall!!!

Subs should be here by Wednesday. This is going in my S-10.

New among the old...

round your corners!!!

Almost equal distances to the port...close enough for me..

Spray on bedliner for now.....not sure how I really want it too look. I just hate having a wood looking box sitting in my truck.

I'll post pics and vids when the subs get here.

Yup....it's been done thousands of times before.... All that matters is the port area. You just have to have enough to support the air volume 4 subs can push. In other words...more subs...bigger port. If I had each of them in a seperate ported chambers...the ports would be much smaller than the one in the picture.

wow, that box must weight a ton. ever since i built my fiberglass box ive avoided all wood boxes. in your applications it works though. post up your SPL scores when its done.

is the box built to spec? what Hz is it tuned to? i guess youd need the subs to officially test it, huh?

Eh...they are o.k. Only reason why I bought that sub was because I got it for $50. It's a 150XE. They have tight bass but dont seem to hit very low especially for a 15.

3.5 cubes total (tad over 2.5 after displacements) tuned @ 33hz. Port is 6.5"x6.5"...so about 10.5 sq.in. of port per sub...they are only little 8" subs . It's not all that heavy (only used a single 6'x4' sheet of MDF)...but it will be when I get the subs in.... Overall the dimensions are 42 wide x 24 tall x 8" deep. I'll slide the box in first then mount the subs. Now I gotta re-do my current amp rack cause it wont fir with this box.

tight bass and extension is highly related to the enclosure itself; always bothers me when someone says something general about a sub like that without mentioning the enclosure

odd that you say "always round your corners" and yet none of your enclosure's corners are rounded.

looks good.

What's it painted with?

EDIT: Never mind, I was lazy and didn't read the initial post. Where'd you get the bedliner from?

The enclosure for the 15 is 4.5 cubes tuned at 34 whith I think 40 sq.in. of port +/-(I can go measure if you want )...so....yeah. You have a different experience with MA XE series subs????? The FS is almost 32 (31.89) on that sub which is pretty damn high for a 15....so I wasnt expecing it to hit the lows as well as a 15 that had a FS in the low 20 or high teens.

Also...I was more or less talking about the port corners.....both ends. I'm not as concerned about the enclosure corners as much as I am about getting port noise....especially in a truck where you will be able to hear it. And I didnt say "always".

Local auto store. Duplicolor spray in bed liner. I'm gonna sand the box down and spray it again and add some filler where necessary. Hopefully you wont be able to see any seams at all. I didnt do any sanding to this box before I sprayed it. I just threw a few coats on to see how it would look.

Yea, I've always liked the look of bedliner on boxes, especially because it's easy to do and looks relatively professional. I'm glad to see duplicolor makes spray on liner. I'll have to get myself some for my new box.

I'll probably end up covering it afterall. The amp cover is just temporary until I have time to figure somethign else out. There are 2 small fans installed on the other end of it. Holes are just for airflow. I'll be anchoring it to the floor...it's just there to deter theft Box in anchored through the back of the cab...they'd have to break it out in pieces to get it out . Just gotta clean up the dust on the box and put the subs in for now.

Didn't get the subs today. They put the wrong postal code on them so it'll be another day or so.

test fit..

Nah...it's only 4 -8"s A tad under the same cone area as 2 12's....but with less mounting depth. I cant wait to see these little 8"ers with a 12mm X-max They'll move a little air.

looks pretty good in the car. you did do well making it fit under the rear widow, but what about the sides windows? did you forget about them? if depth was an issue i would have angled the face of the box and used 10s or 12s for an SPL setup. either way...looks like itll really rock. id cover it with carpet to match your floors.
