help me pick my set up!

aight guys....im lookin to stay with kicker for the brand, i have never had problems with them, but i am open to others. Im not goin to be entering any contests or anything, just for my personal satisfaction. Id like a pair of 12's or 10's, need amp and power cables also

i have installed a couple systems, either my friends or my old car, so im not worried about someone else needing to install it. Im just looking for people to throw some of the newer model speakers and amps out and why you like em. I hate to dynomat the trunk but i think it will be a must. Thanks in advance to whoever helps, and my budget is right around a $1000 but more if needed

www.reaudio.com

contact the company and find a dealer near you. When I bought a set of XXX's they were ~ $300 for a 10 and ~$365 for a 12. Awesome subs for the price. These will blow Kicker out of the water.

Wires are easy ($50). Box --> DIY for $30-$40. Amp, whatever can handle the subs, $300 should find you something decent. Make your budget 1100 and you'll have a sweet setup.

thank you, im most likely going with stinger because thats all i ever have dealt with for the wires. as for the box, i have no idea where to start, ive been readin "how to's" on it but still not sure if thats what i want to do.

now with the xxx's...i just dont want something so powerful that my entire car is gonna rattle, i cant stand people who drive around like that. I have a 99 so i know i will have a lot of noise back there

The XXX's are actually SQ subs. Either way, just adjust the subs not to hit as hard. Two 10's would be perfect.

As for the box, www.jlaudio.com has great tutorials and how-to's

www.jlaudio.com > Mobile Audio > Support (top right) > Tutorials > everything you'll ever need to know about installing woofers, amps, and wiring them up.

I'd recommend a ported box for the subs. JL has a good how-to in which you can build a box specifically for the subs and application you want.

1100 can get you a JL 500/1 and two 12w3v3's that just came out and will ****in knock you out. It's definitely enough bass for sure. i spent 8 hundo on JL 500/1 and 2 10 inch W1s... very satisfied. W3's in the near future. Getting another alarm soon.

W3s definitely a quality subwoofer though.

I've hard them. You not going to "kill" 2 W7's of equal size that are set-up correctly (no matter how many watts you run)....not in SPL...and deff. not in SQ. You might be neck and neck in SPL vs. 1 W7....but not 2.

Fine...I'll go along for a minute. What kind of number did you hit on the termlab? At the dash, kick, or headrest?

a lot of people are like "oh mine is louder" yeah a lot of subs are louder than the W7... but the SQ it produces is freakin amazing. all clean bass.

Badboy, look into the JL 500/1 ... will power pretty much anything at a good level. it's a good all around amp

yup yup...heres what im looking at

subs = new W3v3's from JL http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?page_id=200

amp = JL 500/1 Mono Amp http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_amps.php?amp_id=252

amp connection = most likely 4 gauge stinger but i have heard good things about "Knukonceptz" (http://www.knukonceptz.com/productMa...lation%20Kits#) or a JL audio kit if anyone likes that

opinions on this?

I've been a fan of one 12" for quite some time now. I recently came into owning a pair of very lightly used JL W6v2's that will knock you for a loop. I have yet to install all of this, but I'm going with one of the W6's in a slot ported box. Which means the other one will most likely be for sale. If you would like to maintain at least some trunk space while still getting a crapload of tight, clean bass, you might want to think of one W6v2. The 500/1 would be perfect for that sub. Just a thought.

RE has some amazing quality stuff. It's probably a little better than JL in a lot of ways, althought I can't say too much because I've never actually owned any RE products. There's a lot you can do with a $1000 budget. Kicker's L7 subs are pretty popular and rightfully so. Still can't go wrong with JL or RE.

ive been lookin into RE for a couple days now on some car audio forums and people say that they are excellent in SQ but they have taken the reign from JL as the most overpriced brand on the market. Hearing this, it makes me want to go back to my original choice for subs in Kicker with the new series CompVR's in a loaded box. Although im not a fan of buying from a retail store (i.e Circuit City) i did find a loaded kicker setup with 2 10's in a ported box for $350 (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Kicke...oductDetail.do)
All the reviews are good besides someone who listened to rock music, and thats not what i listen to

Overpriced? I guess I haven't been in the woofer market for a while. The only dealer in Michigan is actually a guy that does stuff out of his house. He doesn't have a shop or store really. Two years ago he quoted me $360 for 12's.

Either way, it doesn't hurt to get in touch with a local dealer and price it out EDIT: Rockford forums are probably the best forums for any rumors and sub knowledge.

You need to stop being so biased on JL man. There are many other brands out there that hardly anyone knows about ( RE being one of them ). The XXX was built as an SQ sub and it does it's job better than any other sub. However, it also outperforms the W7 in SPL as well.

JL is very good stuff don't get me wrong, but for the price you can get a lot of things that are better if you look.

FALSE!!!!!
Theres ben alot of confusion on this topic.

They just stoped selling direct (meaning you cant order directly from RE if you want the low prices). When US Amps took over they wanted to make a more dealer friendly market. So they will be opening alot more local dealers that can give you a MUCH lower price. It would be just like order something directly through a company at MSRP.....but when you go to a store the store prices is always much lower than the MSRP. The prices that people are getting when they call RE are the MSRP prices. Just call and ask for the nearest dealer...then give them a call and ask for pricing. All they dealers are more than happy to ship RE's products.

Also....the W7 cant even come close in comparison to the new '06 XXX from RE.
