yea that was me at the meet... driving my Green Bu.

you can use a stock PCM for this... I just use a DHP tuner to do the tune

BTW- I run a commercial version Powertuner which allows me to tune cars in person for money without any repricusions or otherwise hard feelings from DHP or Charles

I can throw a tune on it for you but I cant say wether or not it will straighten out your problem. It will certainly be a firmer shift but if you have a mechanical prob with you trans no amount of tuning can cure that.

Hey Mark, Tim here, the tuning is great. Doing the rebuild very soon. Got just about all the parts i need. Quick question, can you do the same program as DHP does on their PCM's? or would there be a copyright conflict?

Mostly i just wanted to see the one you put on mine, and compare it to the DHP program.

hey tim... DHP's mail order PCMs are locked so no one (not even me) can read them out... so to answer your question, I have no clue what DHP does that is diff or the same as my programing.. But I have the same capabilties to tune that DHP does as i run their tuner.

only things i can say for sure are that....
-I dont charge for a core since the tune is done to your stock pcm

-I perform a free CASE learn no matter what (normal cost is 1hr labor charge from dealership)

-No waiting for mail.

-You and other customers of mine have nothing but good to say about my tuning.

Would it be best to schedule an appointment for a basic tuning?

-Edit-

Where would I go in order to get this done?

dude just go up to fox lake, mark can pretty much tune your stock pcm to what DHP is.

He did mine 2 weeks ago and its great. Little more power, firmer shifts and im actually getting better mileage IF i drive normal.

hope that helps anyone thinking about getting a tune done.

Yes I prefer to schedule appointments rather than just have people "pop by" This gives me time to make sure I have the most current stock file to work from.

I am located in Fox Lake, IL (60020)...actual location of where the tuning will take place is dependant on the schedule of both the customer and myself...

is there any advantage to tuning a stock pcm over getting a dhp and tuning it? and can ur tuned stock pcm be reflashed at the dealer accidentally?

since it comes and goes and isn't consistent, i think a tune would sort it out. i only have 49k on the car so i highly doubt its a mechanical problem with the transmission. if i had twice this mileage it would be a whole nother story..

lemme kick it around a bit and see if i can make it out there or not.

a dhp pcm is virtually a stock pcm with a different tune. you could easily achieve the same results on a stock pcm by giving it the same tune as a dhp.

and yes a dealer can reflash your pcm, but you can usually request that they don't.

yes there woud be an advantage to tuning a stock pcm rather than a DHP since it would be a waste of money and time to try tune a dhp pcm because I cant read it ... I can however flash over the DHP tune with my own but why would you want to do that if you spent the money on a DHP tune already.

yes dealers can "accidentally" flash over a tuned PCM if they dont know not to. It doesnt matter who did the tuning

well knowing that makes me really re think spending money on the dhp plus a core charge cuz i could get ur tune with the dyno and probably see better results for not much more money and also get the advantage of seeing whats been done.

btw what kind of dyno is it? a mustang or dynojet?
