Cobalt SS S/C is avalibale, and I think they all are in manual tranny. GTP's are auto I think, while GT is avaibale in manual. Cobalt SS S/C and then get the extra "stage" kit they offer. GTP looks to be a 350z only not. I just never like the G6, so Cobalt would be my choice. I think its cheaper too. Remember, its still an economy car. If they offered a GXP G5, I would pick that, provided it had the tubo ecotec, not the sc. Either car you pick, is fine since they are American branded. USA ftw

ACCORDING TO GM WEBSITE THEY SHOW THE CONCEPT g6 gxp ,Which I PRETTY MUCH LIKE .

they need to smooth out the 2 hood scoops, like what they did with our opitional factory sc/t hoods , and maybe not make the 2 front grills so long . hate the taillights ,but rear spoiler looks like it improves on the rather ugly top haft of the rearend . like the lower rear section of the gxp concept. they SHOW IT WITH 6 SPEED MANUAL.

lets COMPARE STOCK G6 GXP ( not the gtp version ) versus stock ss s/c cobalt.

You are asking to compare a concept vehicle to a production car. There have been no formal plans to market a GXP version of a G6, so don't hold your breath. I would buy any version of the G6 over any version of the Cobalt for the interior quality alone. I also like my manual transmissions to have 6 speeds, which the G6 has avalible in the GTP model for '06, for '07 the GT Sport model will have this years GTP powertrain. The Cobalt would probably be more fun to drive because of its smaller size, but there are better economy "sports" cars out there besides the SS Cobalt. You are really comparing apples to oranges.

^ I couldnt find that pic quick enough. I didnt know for sure if the GTP was with a manual or not. The Cobalt would be more fun, deff. Might be me but I look at the G6 as a "chick car" similar to the G35. Either way American Branded. USA FTW

You're calling the g35 a chick car and you drive a cavalier? oooook

GXP will NEVER be made. If I had to choose something in that price range, Subaru Impreza WRX.

out of the two..... Cobalt SS w/ the factory Stage 1 upgrade... still "stock" and factory approved.

is that car still around or was it destoyed, anybody know?

BOT: I would take the G6 GTP for interior and overall appeal, however it sucks trying to see out the sides (just an FYI).

I would take the SS stage 1 Cobalt SS if you are looking to mod alot and such.

good luck with the search.

The G6 GXP... you can tell GM took that car seriously when they had to add the clutch pedal into the non-existant prototype.

Quick of the topic question:

Why is it that I can find 1,000,000 different brands of aftermarket parts for ghey civics and other imports, but when it comes to pontiac there is only extremely over-priced/limited ones to choose from?

Cause WAAAAAAYYYY more people mod Civic's than Grand Ams. If YOU were running a company that sold custom hoods, would you rather sell ~200 a year for Grand Ams, or ~5,000 a year for Civics?

It's not profitable to make a mold for a Grand Am hood and only sell 200 from it. Too much effort compared to 5000 hoods for civics and companies don't want to soak up profits from another item just so the Grand Am community can have a hood.
