Stupid question for professional detailers

Ok, so i was told that it is better (when hand waxing the car) to go up and down then in circles..?? I was told that this shines the car better....? Any truth behind this?

Yes side to side and up and down.

Its really not the wax that this is so important for, polish is most important to go side to side and up and down.

On the sides of the car, up and down.

On the tops of the car (hood, roof, trunk lid, etc...) front to back.

how about when applying wax, i do circular?

p.s. the only wax i use is from Poorboys World (detailed image)

i have never really used a polish, and i should get 411 on even how to use polish and wax and whatnot.....im too cheap to even buy a buffer, knowing me i'd burn the paint it's hard to get a nice shine with my color car

Poorboys is nice stuff, i havent used it myself but i hear its top notch AND it can be used in direct sunlight.

Seriously try to get a buffer, the good ones are expensive yes BUT its a tool and will always be worth the money, buying tools is NEVER a waiste. You cant burn the paint with a orbital buffer i dont care how hard you try.

Note: Polish is an abrasive. Don't use it all the time.

That depends on the polish.

For example, megs #83 and #84 is a heavy cut polish, almost border line compound, that is something you dont wanna use more than once a year on a DD. Megs deep crystal polish has no abbrasives in it and you can use that as much as you want and not hurt anything. Just make sure you know what polish your using and how heavy of a cut it is. This is where it gets confusing so im gonna stop before i make you cry

See, that's the thing; there needs to be a new term. Zaino is considered a polish because it contains no wax, yet it has no abbrasives. That way it is less confusing for people who don't know anything about car care products.

well i've noticed that using the Poorboys that i listed in sunlight, or even in the shade it dries up quickly and it doesn't spread like it should. i was told the car itself was too hot....then last night i waxed the car and i had no problems at all with it drying up too quickly and spread nicley. so maybe these AREN'T good in the sun or shade..?

hey coupe i have a question for you. i got my car washed on saterday. on sunday morning, there was dust all over it. i park in a garage so i dont know how dust gets on it, but it did. i was wondering if i have to rewash the car, or can i take a microfiber towle and just wipe the dust off?

Your vehicle will get dusty even in a garage. When i stored my car this past winter it was covered in dust by spring. What i use is a california car duster. They work GREAT. Then after i go over the car with that i use megs quick detailer and wype down the whole car. I do that everyday after i get home from work.
Just using a micro-fiber and wyping it you wont remove the dust you will just push it around your paint.
