Gas Mileage

Obviously I am new here. I got a 2000 Grand Am GT about a week ago and I was wondering how everyone else's gas mileage is. I am thinking something is wrong with mine, but I would just like to know what everyone else's is to base it on.

I get at least 300 for a full tank. I usually don't let my tank go under half, though, and I think I had like 280 at a 1/4 tank last time it got that low, so I think that averages at like 24 I think

20-26 depending on city/highway and for how long i get stuck in traffic, or if I do...

With my new exhaust, I seem to be getting a little better milage as well, about a mile to the gallon.

When I had my GA, I could severely vary the mileage of a tank of gas. If I drove like a grandma, I could stretch the tank out to about 390 - 400 miles. If I drove hard and aggressively, I could get as little as 175 miles out of a tank.

Average though was 280 miles per tank.

Lots of sitting it traffic or lots of idle time.... or else you got something siriously wrong.

You did the math correctly? you didn't forget to reset the trip after filing up one time or anything?

I have a feeling he is guessing or not doing the math correctly.

If you arent guessing, how are you calculating it?

I take alot of short useless drives which usually consist of heavy acceleration and alot of stop and go. My average is usually somewhere around the 16-18. However, while thruway driving ive seen it in the high 20's.

I did reset before I left the gas station on the first fill up. What I did say before was an educated guess, it was before I actually stopped at the gas station for the second fill up. I was at 194.3 miles when I went to the gas station the second time. I wish I got a receipt for the first time, but I think I put in around 11.5 gallons when I filled up. I divided 194.3 by 11.5 and I got 16.9 miles per gallon rounded up.
