ITS turbo kit

It looks as if the turbo kit for the 3400 Grand Am is ready. It is no longer listed as a current project and is now listed as a kit with more information soon. Looks as if this is for real. The website is www.itsturbo.net

I guess I should throw in my two cents here since my car was the one with their 'prototype' kit. Here is the tale of the tape, the itsturbo kit that they are marketing does not have any fuel mapping or any horse power numbers. I had to pull my car from the r&d because of an accident in my back up car. While my car was boosted, there was a problem with it, the #3 piston fragged and smoked the egr valve and did possible damage to the torque convertor. My car went in to them in late May/early June. I was promised the car by June 9 when there was a 1/4 mile track event at Kil Kare. This did not happen. I needed the car back to go to the Winston Cup race in June and was told it could be done by then. This deadline passed, I got my car back to make it to MIS, when I got back from the track I called them and they said they were on to another project.

I asked if I could drop it off the next week, they said no problem. I asked if I could have it done by GAP last year (July 24) they said it wouldn't be a problem since it was a month away. I dropped it off the week before 4th of July under the impression that it would be done. They finished with their Dodge Neon kit that next weekend, July 11, and I thought they were going to work on my car. (I was at their shop for the following) Nothing happened until 48 hours before GAP, they started working on the car July 23 and quit early on July 24. Went back to work around 11:00 in the morning on July 24 and kept working straight through until July 25, around 7:00 in the morning. That made for 36 straight hours of work on a kit that was supposed to have been done one month prior.

The kit came in late, over cost, and untuned. I understand if there were problems with installation, but they had my car for a total of 4 months (after it blew up they were supposed to help with the motor re-build which they did on the bottom end, most of it was my time spent using someone-else's tools). Given my experience I suggest the following, work on engine internals first, upgrade your transmission, and don't go to this shop if you expect it to be done on time and done on budget. Their kit has not been fuel mapped or set up or tuned or have any numbers to support their claim for the 3400. I can say without a doubt that I did not recieve what I spent my money on.

yeah, the problem is that I don't know how to weld and don't have access to one, otherwise it would have been done by me

...time for some guys to go to the tried and true SC? Too bad you guys don't have the Eaton-roots kit to pick up anymore, factory tested and street proven... now the relatively new RSM Kit is the only easy way to boost! Sounds like ITS is not worth the effort... I wonder how the Neon owners are doing, broken motors, blown gaskets, popped welds... ???

I like the tunablity of the turbo over the SC, I'll wait until I can do it right with performance parts, and the right money. Then we'll have a go at it.

Cnix,

I don't have them, but let me check around with some of the ohiorides people, they may be in there.

My car is a black 01 SE, 3400. I haven't checked if it was on cardomain, but someone may have posted it there.

Brent

I've been looking around, trying to find pistons for a turbo, (found some with rings for $750). Anybody know a good company that will make them?
