Is this a new trend?

I've seen this on quite a few car sites and I've even seen it on the road. WTF?! To me, it looks like crap and I'm thinking it can't be good for the tire or handling.

WTF am i looking at? Looks like a fender, rim and tire.
Looks like the width of the tire is waaaaaay to small.

he has asserted his dominance over competing males with the loud masculine sound form his exaust system, Females searching for a potential mate will be driven away by weaker exaust systems and attracted to his SLP.

Yes it is. I see it all the time on huge $5000 sets of rims, and the owner broke the bank and couldn't get tires that are big enough.

hmm works for me...basically its a 13" wirewheel that is put on big spaces and sticks out really far with tires that are too small for it, as seen on some lowriders.

what if you get a puncture in the tire from a nail and you're going 65mph and the tire loses air rapidly, will it stay beaded (proper term?) as long as a regular sized tire would? do stretched tires need to have above a certain tire pressure to stay beaded?

-
one thing about running stretched tires, the driver tends to be a bit more careful because of the cost of the wheels, i definately drive more alert with the tramonts than i do my stock wheels.

good thing you can see those nails on the road, and react quick enough with your busted stretch tires at 70 on the highway!

Something tells me none of these guys have lost air pressure yet, due to a blowout etc, because the rim will be WASTED very quickly.

I have seen these combos on vehicles, but its usually on a lowrider with hydros or, oddly enough, on quite a few s-10's at factory ride height......pretty ghey
