wow, IMO you should never pay that much for a radar detector. I haven't really looked into them, but I will be getting one and I would think that you shouldn't pay no more than $200 for one (I'm looking around $100-$150 for mine).

Do you do that much speeding? Depends where you live, where I live most cops have KA radar, where if you go into East Lansing/Okemos and prolly where you live they will have Laser. Unless you speed for your living i dont think its really worth it.
A nice midrange one, with some common sence should work. Anyways, if you do end up getting a ticket, and still have that $400 radar detector how would you feel? I have a Cobra and love it, though i dont speed that often and i usually forget to turn it on. Mine does KA, Laser and something else too. Hope this helped.

Speeding was cool when I was 16... I have since lost interest in it. Going with the flow of traffic is fine enough for me, no need to draw attention to myself by blowing past people on the highway or streets in general (especially if you have tinted windows or other illegal add ons). Radar detectors are a waste, just drive within reasonable limits and save your money for a CAI or something cooler.

As for the V1 yes its worth every penny of $400 (2 tickets will cost you more than that) but it depends how much driving you do, if you drive 5 mile to work in the city then its not worth it. I know a few friends that have the V1 those things are great for picking up cops literally a mile away

we have cornfields, you're thinking of kansas.
the only place you can really stretch the limit..highways. everywhere else you might as well play it safe for your own pocketbook's sake as well as the safety of others around you. |

On the highways I'll go as fast as 85, but in town I go no more than 5 over just because the ticket isn't worth it and gas is expensive.

If you will be driving expeditiously on the highway (conditions permitting) on a regular basis, and would rather speed than not break the law, then yes, the v1 is worth every single penny

Mine does to the left, but I need an alignment so I don't think that counts ^.^
I still wouldn't go with a $400 radar detector, just a plain waste of money when you can get a really good one for under $200 anyways. I usually do 10 over, max on any road, mostly stick to 5 over though. Around here, most cops don't care about 5 over, 10 can be pushing it but if the rest of traffic is going 10 over, they can't just single you out if you are in the middle of the pack. I do, though, enjoy when a cop is sitting at the side of the road and going past him at 4 over on Cruise Control while everyone else slows down cause I know he can't do jack about it ^.^ Then there's when I am coming home from work (about 1:30 am) and I love cruising past cops in the medians with their lights off with Cruise Control set at 6 over Try and pull me over, officer, my cruise was set at 3 over I don't know what you are talking about. Also, I was told once that the car bra's disrupt radar detectors (NOT laser detectors, though) and give false readings. Is that true? |
