Gold and Black Grand Am (56K Beware)

Ok guys, today I finally took the jump and tried something that I don't think exists (at least I've never seen it). I put rally stripes on a gold grand am. Earlier I also painted the interior gold and black. Let me know how you think it looks. Oh and keep in mind that I am not done with the rally stripes I ran out of vinyl and will be adding it to the rest of the car later.

The gold doesn't match.

I know, and had no intention of matching it, 2 kinds of gold is perfectly fine with me, thanks for the feedback though.

definitely different. btw, is the black dash that you did shiney or flat black? and what products did you use for it?

you might also finish the doors and rest of the interior in black to make it match.

I used shiney. As far as products I used the Duplicolor Vinyl and Fabrick and I sponge brushed it on. For the Interior Pieces I used Duplicolor Adhesion Promoter, Duplicolor Gold, and then Duplicor Clear Coat.

I am planning on doing the doors, my car is an unfinnished project, just seeing what people think so far. I don't know what I'm going to do with the seats because I don't have the money for the PFYC seat covers but I do want to change their colors, without looking cheezy. Maybe I'll try buying some universal seat covers and sewing them in to the seat, I would really like recomendations if anyone has them for seat ideas.

Honestly, the two diff. shades of gold look horrible. As for seat covers unless you're getting them redone with Katzkin or something seat covers FTL.

That's cool, your entitled to you opinion. I have a different opinion however I like the way it looks, who knows I may repaint the interior to match the exterior, but who knows.

As for seat covers, yeah that's what I was thinking...it's hard to go cheap on them and make it look good.

I think that the gold on the dash would have looked good but then with the black I think it was a bit much

Personally, the interior isn't my thing. But the racing stripes look awesome on the gold.

don't buy universal seat covers, no matter how much work you do on them they still won't fit right and will look EXTREMELY cheap. save up and get either the pfyc's or a custom set of covers.

Different... I like. It's a good color combo. The different color gold on the interior doesn't bother me either. It doesn't really matter since the interior and exterior aren't right next to each other, and it would be pretty much impossible to color match them with over the counter stuff. You'd have to have them painted at a professional paint shop where they could order the correct paint and blend it etc. Besides, how many people on here with red or blue GA's have painted their interiors red or blue but the color isn't the same... and no one says anything.

I agree though, the black dash kinda clashes with the gray door panels now. Gotta do the doors to match. Thats the only problem with changing the color of a large panel like that. Once you go that far you have to go all the way or it doesn't look right.

edit: rally stripes look good too. Would look even better on a GT conversion.

i do think the stripes would look better on a non-se. are you gonna keep going down the front bumper? i think that would look best. the interior might look really sweet when its all done. also, way to take the criticism in stride. most people cant take it. stick around

aaron, the door panels aren't gray

and couldn't he use colormatched paint from autozone or something to get a better gold? it wouldn't be interior paint per say, but im sure if he was careful putting it on and put a clearcoat over the finished product it wouldn't turn out so bad.
