New Pontiac G8

Is this what it's going to look like? I think it looks great! Sort of resembles the last generation Subaru Legacy.

There are some other good pics in that issue of Motor trend. It's another Holden model with a Pontiac dart, but I like it a lot.

Hey has it been discussed here that Pontiac may ditch FWD and be RWD only company in the near future? If not I have the article I can scan.

Worst thing they could do since the stock GTO wheels are the ugliest stock wheels I've ever seen. Those don't look exactly like the GTO wheels though.

Not a bad looking car overall. We'll see what it actually looks like though if they actually make it... and what kind of powertrain etc it comes with.

^ Bingo, this is just a 2007 Holden Commodore with a Pontiac grill and center caps. Motor Trend had said that GM would throw some money at the car and give it more of a reskin than the GTO got if it goes into production. I'd take an LS2 RWD version of this car for sure if they could price it just under 30 grand to start.

According to the article; all GM has to do is start shipping it here, make it conform to US crash-ratings and emissions, and we're golden. Thats basically all they did with the GTO. They're saying "this time, GM has already thought ahead."

For those saying if this car happens, it won't look that good. Actually it'll most likely look identical to this pic. They did it with the GTO. The pic of course is what the GTP or GXP model would look like, but the regular Grand Prix/G8 would obviously be toned down a little.

In a different article I read, they guessing a 0-60 time of around 5.3 and a 1/4 mile time in the high 13's. Pretty damn sweet if you ask me. Plus, they're not trying to compete with Evo's or STi's...... those cars are for kids who just wanna go fast. The new G8 would be fast, and of a higher quality all-around for a complete package. Plus, its a bit larger than the afformentioned kiddie-cars.

Looks like a Mazda 6 to me, but I like those and this as well. Anything looks better with a Pontiac logo. What's with Pontiac naming everything with a G and a number? It's very unoriginal and too much like BMW and the others. Confusing if you ask me. I heard that the G8 was to be the replacement for the Grand Prix for a while now. I think they'll do it. They always get rid of the cars that sell and put a different one out instead. This one may actually be a winner though.

Yeah it should be ready to go. When the Commodore was being built they shelled out money to make it US ready when it was produced. Its engineered for right or left hand drive, and I believe is up to safety ratings.

The only way I see this one happening is if they squash the GTO and use this in its place, because if i recall the GTO (tho i am a huge fan of it) has not sold anywhere near what pontiac/gm wanted, and this car would def be steeping on its toes...so either ditch the GTO or forget about the concept being anywhere near as powerful...think v-6 maybe? perhaps a blower to tag along?
